- Some records say that Nancy was Nancy Peveto, daughter of Samuel Peveto and Emily Bland. However, Nancy said her father was born in Ireland. Their residence in mid county, Port Neches, in 1880 is among many related families that others of the Cunniff children had ties with. Age place and time, esp stating her father from Ireland, strongly indicate she was Nancy Cuniff, daughter of John Cuniff. Nancy Peveto, the same age as Nancy Cuniff, and her family were in Orange around at that time. However,August's child by his 3rd wife did marry into the Peveto family from Orange. So, perhaps that's where it got confused.
