- Lived near the mouth of Bayou Pierre - Coles Creek Settlement in Mississippi near Natchez Fort on Mississippi River Bluffs where Coles Creek ran into the Mississippi River. Plantation possibly called "Pine Ridge."
Land purchased abt 1780 from Parker Carradine of Coles Creek. Land dispute in 1784 between James Sr and Earl Douglas who stated he had purchased, but not yet paid for, land from John Bell circa 1780. Douglas and Simmons appeared with witness; land was granted to Simmons.
Last petition for land was made on Nov 25, 1785 on Mississippi River Bluffs, 15 mi north.
