Glenn Taviner
HARDIN - Glenn F. Taviner, 75, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to his eternal r est at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 27, 1923, in Hardin, he was the son of the late Edward and Flora (Smith) Taviner.
He was employed at Olin Corp. in East Alton, retiring in 1985. In his younger years he playe d softball and basketball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Army Ai r Corps in England during World War II.
He married the former Shirley M. Breden June 18,1949, in Hardin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Taviner of Alton and Stev e Taviner of Hardin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Nick Siemer of Batchtown, Bar bara and Larry Burris of Hardin, Cheryl and Kevin Schwab of Jerseyville and Marian and Stev e Russell of Waverly; seven grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren;
and a mother-in-law, Jean Breden of Jerseyville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Edward Taviner; two brothers, Ralph and Jack Tavine r; and his father-in-law, Theodore Breden.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, where fu neral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Paul D. Frazier officiating.
Interment will be at St Norbert's Cemetery, Hardin.
Memorials may be made to the Calhoun Ambulance Service or the American Lung
