Joseph Gwinn's Will.
I, Joseph Gwinn of CC, planter, am at present somewhat ailing and sick in body but of disposing memory and judgment. I wish to be buried in a Christian and decent manner without much expense.
To my wife Elizabeth Gwinn - after my death, my land and plantation whereon I live (all I have in possession) shall belong, during life, to my wife, during her widowhood. Also Negroes George, Tom, Nathan, Ben, Sue, Jenny, Siar, and Hannah.
To my son Benjamin Gwinn - all my land, after my wife's death. Also, Negroes Patrick, Carpenter, Will in discharge of any claim he may have against me (Plato and Rachael", and a bed and furniture and 10 sheep.
To my daughter Anne Harris - I have already given her John, Bob, and Kate, a bed and furniture, and 10 sheep.
To my son Joseph Gwinn - I have already given him Negroes Jacob, little George, and Alce, a bed and furniture, I heifer, and 10 sheep.
To my daughter Violetta Gwinn - Negroes Milly, Suck. Sarah, Mark, & Bob, a bed and furniture, and 10 sheep.
The rest of my estate, after my debts are paid, I give to my wife, including Negroes, horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, plantation and household furniture.
Executors: As my several sons live at a distance and have full employment, otherwise long hieritands, I hereby appoint my wife, and my son-in-law, Thomas Harris of CC, joint executors.
