To son Francis, tract which I have deed of trust from Edward Jenkins; 340 acres bought of John Barton, Ignatius and Henrietta Montgomery called Pyes Hard Shift and also bought of State of MD called Mongomerys Adventure
To son Ignatius Batchelors Hope 108 acres during the life of sister Sarah Jenkins
To wife and children - Ignatius, James, Eleanor, Francis and Elizabeth the residue equally, but if wife refused to abide by this, then after her thirds be paid, the residue be divided equally among sd children.

Negro woman Sarah (aged 28 years as per inventory). Negro boys: Will (13), Luke (7), Ned (5), Levin (4). Negro girls: Aminta (8), Lydia (6), Amy (2).
I gave 33/9 cash for the purpose of saving the fruit last year & now divided.
Total amount: £239.11.83/4.
Received Feb 4, 1792 of Ignatius Middleton, acting executor of Mr. James Middleton, decd, the just sums of 0.5.7-1/2 specie, and 239.11.8.3 current money in goods and chattels as above mentioned, being for the use of my son, Francis Middleton (minor & legatee) of the sd decd. I, James Middleton of CC, am sick & weak of body but of sound mind & memory & disposing judgment. Firstly, I want my just debts paid, out of the monies due me.
To my wife Catharine Middleton - the following Negroes, viz, Benjamin, Simon, Terry (the wife of Benjamin), Agnes, Jane, Peter, John Baptist, Judy, & Bess.
To my son Ignatius Middleton - the following Negroes, viz, Philip, Jack, Charity, Anastasia, Cicily, Alice, Mary, Clare, Dick, & Ann.
To my son James - the following Negroes, viz, Bob,
Alexander, Harr[y], .. Lucy, Christopher, Sophia, Jacob, & Gerard.
To my daughter Eleanor Thompson - the following Negroes, viz, Milley, Moses, Charles, Sam, Stephen, Isaac, Monica, Clem .. ls, Rachel, Frank, Ralph, Anne
(daughter of Milly), and Cealey.
To my son Francis Middleton - the following Negroes, viz, Sarah, Leptise, Amy, Will, Neil (a boy), Leu, Aramintha, & luke, provided my wife Catharine shall abide by this, my Will, so far as respects the disposition of my Negroes & other personal property. But if my wife refuses to comply, then the bequest to my son Francis shall be void, and I will bequeath to Francis 5 £ current money, instead of the Negroes I had bequeathed him, and sd Negroes then to be equally divided between my sons ignatius and James and daughter Eleanor Thompson.
To my daughter Elizabeth Middleton - the following Negroes, viz, Polly, George, Nicholas, Abraham, a girl called Sarah, Philis, Roger, & Aaron, provided my wife Catharine Middleton shall abide by this, my Will, so far as it respects the disposition of my Negroes & other personal property. If my wife does not comply, then this bequest to my daughter Elizabeth shall be void, and, instead, I will give her 5 £ current money, and her bequeathed Negroes divided between my 3 children, Ignatius, James, & Eleanor Thompson.
To my son Ignatius Middleton - the 14 following Negroes, being the Negroes I purchased of Edward Jinkins, viz, James, Young Monica, Henry, Terry, Chloe, Cealy, Robert, Cecily, old Monica, George, Agnes, Rachael, Alice, & Jenny, a child about 2 months old. I want Ignatius to find my sister, Sarah Jenkins, & her 4 daughters, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, & Charity Jenkins, necessary clothing & victuals during my sd sister's life & the single life of her 4 daughters, out of the produce & profits from the afd 14 Negroes last bequeathed to him,
To my son James Middleton - 6 cows, 6 sheep, & one fourth of my hogs.
To my daughter Eleanor Thompson - 2 cows.
To my son Ignatius James [sic] & my daughter Eleanor - my young horse called Alonzo.
To my wife Catharine & my son Ignatius - the rest of my cattle, sheep, hogs, & all my household furniture, to be equally divided between them.
To my wife Catharine & my son Ignatius & my son James - all my kitchen furniture, to be equally divided between them.
To my wife Catharine - one third of the following tracts of land: part of a tract called Jordan whereon I now dwell, part of a tract called Middletons & Askins Progress, also a vacancy that I have added to the sd tract, during her natural life or widowhood. But in case she marries, then she shall relinquish her thirds in the above land, and shall have one third of the land herein bequeathed to my son Francis, during her natural life.
To my 2 sons, Ignatius & James - all that tract of land called Jordan, that I now dwell on. Also all that tract of land called Middletons & Askins Progress, & all the vacant lands that I have added to sd lands, reserving one third part of sd lands to my wife Catharine, during her natural life or widowhood, my son Ignatius to have his part of sd lands where I now dwell, including the mill, reserving to my other children, the privilege of having grain for their families' use ground free from toll, and my son James to have his part of sd lands laid off in the land that I purchased of my brother, Smith Middleton & in that part called the old quarter, to he equally divided between them.
To my son Francis Middleton - all those tracts of land that I have a deed of trust for from Edward Jinkins, containing about 340 acres. Also, all that tract I bought of John Barton, Ignatius & Henrietta Mongomery, called Pyes Hardstrife, containing about 39 acres, Also all that tract of land I bought of the State of Maryland, called Mongomerys Adventure, containing about 38 acres, reserving to my son Ignatius the use of a tract of land called Batchelors hope, containing about 180 acres, during the natural life of my sister Sarah Jenkins & also reserving my wife's thirds if she marries.
The rest of my personal estate is to be equally divided between my wife & my children, Ignatius, James, Eleanor, Francis, & Elizabeth. But if my wife does not abide by this bequest, then after her third part is paid, the residue shall he equally divided between my children, Ignatius, James, & Eleanor. My will is that 7 £ 10 shillings current money that Edward Jenkins subscribed for building a chapel shall be paid out of my estate.
