At the request of Joseph Gwinn of CC the following deed was recorded May 3, 1722
Apr 25, 1722 from John Gwinn of CC, planter, to Joseph Gwinn, eldest son of the afd Jno Gwinn, of same, for 5 shillings and for the natural love he has for his sd son Joseph & for maintenance & advancement, of.his sd son and for divers other good causes, a certain tract of _land called Essex, lying near Cedar point in CC, & conveyed by. John Hamilton, late of CC, Gent, to John Gwinn, late of CC, decd father of the sd John Gwinn first above named, & grandfather of Josh Gwinn afd, containing and then laid out for about 75 acres, as by deed dated Aug 9, 1679. Also, a -certain tract of land called Rangle, lying in CC & adjoining a tract of land whereon Edmund Howard formerly dwelled, & conveyed by John Compton Jr, late of CC deced, to sd Jno Gwinn, father of the afd Josh Gwinn, containing and then laid out for about 140 acres, sd deed being dated Aug 10, 1713. Signed - Jno Gwinn. Wit - Waltr Story*, Geo Dent*. Anna, the wife of Jno Gwinn, relinquished her right of dower,in and to the within mentioned land and premises.

The rent is 40 shillings the 1st year, "then-' lbs of leaf tobacco and 2 fat capons, yearly Hatch has 3 bought servants & keeps them at work upon the plantation, then Hatch is to pay 1000 lbs of tobacco: Hatch is. ,to, plant 100 apple trees. Hatch may get timber for sd`p1antation, that is to say, for building or repairs'-'-o fencing or tobacco hogsheads or cider casks This is a 5_,year lease starting today. Dec 1, 1749 from Joseph Gwinn of CC, planter, to Barton Hungerford of CC, planter. Said Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn, father of the above named Joseph Gwinn, had, by virtue of a writ of ad quad damnum, purchased out of the High Court of Chancery of Maryland, on Sep 26, 1724, laid out by Daniel Jenifer, Esq, then high Sheriff of CC, and by a jury then on the premises, Colo Robert Hanson, Surveyor, 12 acres on Bennets Branch at the head of Poteets Cr in CC, whereon to build a water mill, in pursuance of which inquisition, sd Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn obtained from the Governor or Chancellor, an 8 year lease, with the yearly rent of 4 bushels of Indian corn. Said John Gwinn, by his will, bequeathed his moiety of sd land to afd Joseph Gwinn. Now sd Joseph Gwinn, for 50 shillings, has sold to sd Barton Hungerford, one moiety or half part of the 12 acres.
