- Catherine is mentioned in the will of her cousin Joseph Bullitt written 3 Sep 1709. She died before her husband wrote the 16 Jan 1755 deed to their son, Thomas.

Oct 3, 1752 from Alexr Smith Hawkins of CC, planter, to William Wates of St Mary's County, Gent, and Sarah Smith Wates, his wife, for 30,000 lbs of tobacco and for the natural love which sd Alexr has for his sd son & daughter, William & Sarah Smith Wates, he gives them all that tract of land called Coombs' purchase, lying in CC, and bounded by the original survey, the land of Courts Keech formerly the land of John Courts, containing and laid out for about 150 acres. To have and to hold, to sd Willm Wates during his natural life, and to the sd Sarah Smith Wates, her heirs and assigns, forever. Signed-Alexr (A his mark) Smith Hawkins. Wit-Geo. Dent, John Dent, Thomas Hawkins. Catherine, the wife of the sd Alexr Smith Hawkins, relinquished her right of dower in sd land. Recorded Oct 5, 1752.
