Name |
Walter William Stricker |
Birth |
1900 |
McLennan Co, Texas |
- Census record shows born in 1890 (or 1891 as scratched thru) and age 9 in 1900; however both parents would have been about 10 yrs old. Surmised that "9" meant nine months.
A note from Paula Deming, whose husband Kris Banard descended from this line, contacted me (13 Apr 2011) and stated he was born 1900 and died in 1902. So, the "9" was nine months.

Written of little Walter Stricker by his sister in her journal, "Before little Walter was three, his tiny life was snuffed out by diptheria. There were no antitoxin in Calvert, nor any infallible medical diagnostician. So, after three weeks of "sore throat and tonsillitis," as he lay in Mama's arms one early morning just before dawn, death took him from her."
full journal is attached.

Notes |
- If dates are entered correctly, Walter is too old to be the child of either Henry or Runie (census transcribers say "Rosie). If Walter is indeed 9. Henry is 20, and Runie is 19. However, Runie does list one birth, one living, but no child is listed that would fit.
This record has set him as "adopted" until something clears this up. perhaps they meant 9 months?

from the notes of Kris Banvard,
"Their marriage license was obtained in McLennan county, but they were married in in Marlin, Falls County. They were married at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Mrs. H.G. Houghton, aunt of the bride. According to the newspaper clipping I have announcing it, the wedding 'will be a quiet affair, only relatives and a few friends being expected.' The couple will live in Waco, the clipping said, "Mr. Stricker having prepared a home for his bride in that city."
