Funeral Services for Mrs. Hayes to be held tomorrow.
Lifelong Resident of this Section Succumbs to Heart Ailment Friday.
Mrs. Mary A. Hayes, a native of the Maxie community, died peacefully at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at her home here of heart disease. she had been in ill health for a long time and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Hayes was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Laughlin and was born and raised in the Maxie community north of Crowley.
Funeral services will be hled at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Maxie church with interment in the Maxie cemetery.
Mrs. Hayes by her first marriage to Elijah C. Hayes is survived by the following children: E.C. Hayes of Ellis Community, Mrs. J.K. Morgan of Hayes, LA. Another son T.H. Hayes died in 1920.
from her second marriage to A.C. Lavergne of Crowley, following children survive:R.E. Lavergne of Crowley
Mrs. Edward C. Daigle of Ellis. Also surviving are Stanford Laughlin of Eunice and Albert Laughlin of Port Arthur, Texas, brothers, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hach of Ashland Oregon, a sister.
She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church but due to ill health was unable during her last years to take an active part in its affairs. she will be sadly missed by all who knew her and especially by her children to whom she was deeply devoted. She was known for her self-sacrificing nature and her deep devotion and interest in the welfare of her loved ones. She at all times practiced the Christian spirit of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.
