- Leonard HELM Jr. was born before 1718* in England and transported to Virginia by his father before 5 May 1720. In his father's will, Leonard Jr. inherited the family plantation and was appointed joint executor with his older brother MEREDITH HM, on the condition that "he shall agree to this my last will." Leonard refused to take upon himself the burden of the will, and was involved in litigation for fourteen years over his father's estate. Leonard Jr. has been described as having a "litigious" nature he was in court so often; and it cost him most of his share of the estate.

* Birth estimate is closer to abt 1689 based on marriage date of his parents. He was listed first as child who accompanied his father in migration to the VA colony. He was to be exr of his father's will, with his brother, Meredith. He was left house and goods, 1/2 crops. However will was contested and disputed till all was virtually gone.
