Hi Sherry -
was just reviewing some of my Lovelady folks and ran on the Fred Calhoun page --
with your experience with the court system and its members, I thought you would appreciate him:
b. 4/2/1915 Club Ranch, Uncompahgre Plateau, Colorado -
d. 10/4/1984 Grand Junction, CO
Military USN Lt. 1942-1945 Purple Heart & Silver Star, PT 'Ron 12, Boat 191 "Bambi", New Guinea
Western State College (CO) 1936-40 BS; Denver Law School 1949-1953 LLD
Private practice/County Court Judge 1953-1960; (7th JD) District Court Judge 1961-1979;
known as "The Maverick Judge" (he wore no one's brand!)
Depending on his court case, he would place one of two billed caps on the bench, which read:
"The Kind Hearted Judge" or The Hanging Judge" - as the case might be -----
After he retired in 1979 he went back to his first love (raising cattle); got involved in politics (again) in 1981 - elected a Delta County Commissioner (died in office at 69). An interesting man...
