- William and Ellen(Doak)Cunningham appear to have moved to Adams Co., Ohio from Augusta Co., Va. sometime between 1820 & 1828. They probably came with Ellen's sisters and their husbands, Samuel Cunningham, James Finley, and John Larew, who all moved to Adams Co.,Ohio also by 1832. Rosannah Doak (another sister) and her husband Levi Smith had already moved to Adams Co. before 1820. William and the family were on the 1830 census in Scott Twp., Adams Co.Ohio, Liberty Twp.; Adams Co. in 1840 and Sprigg Twp.; Adams Co. in 1850. William was a farmer. William and Ellen moved to Tippecanoe Co., Indiana with their children sometime after the 1850 census was taken.
