Adam Bitz "Beats" was born on 20 Oct 1773 in Northampton Co. Pennsylvania. He was baptized on 2 Mar 1774 at the Salem Lutheran and Reformed Church, Moore Twp., Northampton Co.Pennsylvania. The sponsor at his baptism was his maternal grandfather, Adam Meister. His parent's names were listed as George Kitz and wife Eva. (From Diane Beets Moore's research)
Adam was the fourth child of George and Maria Eva "Eve" Meister Bitz, later spelled Beets/Beats. The family moved to Cumberland Co. Pennsylvania, then in 1792 they moved to Rockbridge Co. Virginia. Adam was listed in the Personal Property Tax List for Rockbridge Co. Virginia (in the State Library in Richmond) for the years of 1798 and 1801. He married Mary "Polly" Rowlison, the daughter of Nathaniel and Ann Rowlison on the 8 Sept 1801 in Rockbridge Co. Virginia.
Adam and Mary had four children that are known of; Hulda born on 10 Mar 1803, John born on 13 Sep 1806, George born on 19 May 1809 and Ann "Anny" born on 29 Sept 1811. (From the bible of Thomas Beets in the possession of Angela M. Ruley)

Adam served in the War of 1812, in Capt. John W. Shirley's Company, Barbee's Regiment, Kentucky Militia. He enlisted on the 23 Aug 1812 for 6 months and served as a private. His will was dated 28 Aug 1815 in Adair Co. Kentucky. His wife, Mary and his two sons, John and George and "other" children were mentioned in the will. It is unknown if Adam died in Kentucky and where he is buried.
