- Colonel Hon. Richard Coote was born in February 1643.2 He was the son of Charles Coote, 1st Earl of Mountrath and Jane Hannay.3 He married Penelope Hill, daughter of Rt. Hon. Arthur Hill and Mary Parsons, before 1663.1 He died in 1700.2
He was Collector and Register-General for all taxes and cessed in Thomand and Connaught in 1660.2 In 1673 he was granted 23,000 acres in Dublin, Meath, Kildare, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick, Kerry and Roscommon, under the Acts of Settlement.2 He held the office of Commissioner of Appeals in 1675.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Kilkenny in 1675.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny between October 1692 and 5 September 1693.2 He lived at Tullaghmain, County Kilkenny, Ireland.1
