- They had no children.
Mary Etta HILL's father, a Civil War Vet - Pleasant Coleman Hill, born August 6, 1839, in Georgia, a son of George A Hill and Eliza "Epsy" Hill. The family came to Texas around 1855 and appears on the 1860 census of Chambers County.
HILL enlisted at Liberty on April 26, 1862, joining Company F of Spaight's Battalion. He spent most of his life after the war in the Moss Bluff area of Liberty County.
P.C. HILL was married first to Miss Sarah E. Adair, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary W (Wiggins) Adair.
He has six children by his first wife:
1. Mary Etta (b 1866) who married LEVERETT SHERMAN;
2. Virginia (b 1869);
3. Joseph (b 1869);
4. Hattie (1873-1941), who married John James Anderson;
5. Benjamin (born 1875);
6. Ernest (born 1879).
P.C. HILL married secondly in 1886 to Elena (LaCour) DeBlanc, the widow of Raymond DeBlanc and the daughter of J.M.LaCour and Ida Myra (DeBlanc) LaCour. There were five children born to him and his second wife:
1. Sidney Scherer (1889-1966), who married Agnes Davis;
2. Ralph Quency (1890-1959), who married Sula Mouser Campbell;
3. Henry Grady or "Harry" (1896-1968), who married first to Fannie DuBose and second to Viola Sophia Gates;
4. Eppsie Aslee (born 1896), who died in infancy;
5. Elmira.
P.C. HILL died on May 29, 1914 and is buried in the Norris Family Cemetery at Moss Bluff.
