James BARNETT, was born in Spotsylvania/Orange Co, VA and died in Orange Co. [Orange Co, VA, Will Bk, 3, p.418; written 28 Dec 1796, pro. 24 Apr 1797].
James may have been under age when his father's will was written in 1750, for he was not mentioned, but he was given a share of the estate in 1757 [Orange Co, VA, Will Bk, 2, pp. 377, 378; eval. and div. 25 Nov 1757, rec. 27 Nov 1766 ].
PAF Insight gives mother's name as Marren Francis Gibbs.

Internet search. Ancesty.com. "Copeland, Harris, Lawrence, Neville, Pittman, Turner, Wheeler "
Contact: Jesse Macon Lawrence. Gives birth place of James Barnett as Prince William County, Virginia formed 1730 from King George, Stafford Counties. Event in James Barnett's life: American Revolutionary War 1775-1783. This source also gives David Barnett born 29 May 1760 as a child of James Barnett. This is probably with wife Sarah or Mrs. James Barnett. James is listed in my data with two wives: Sarah and Mildred Neavill.
In the will of George Neville who died in the early part of 1774 he named his wife. Although several sons in law were mentioned in his will, James Barnett was not mentioned as a son in law. Did he die early? Did he divorced and marry another wife? In the will it does mention John Barnett as a grandson and son of James Barnett and daughter Milly Barnett. "L20 to be paid him (John Barnett) when he arrives at the age of 21 years out of my book debts."
PAF Insight gives name of mother as Marran Francis Gibbs.
