- Robert Davis Gallagher, 81, of Broken Bow passed away Monday, September 5, 2011.
The son of John Archie and Catherine Vesta (Stovall) Gallagher, Robert was born March 16, 1930 in Arkinda, AR. Robert was affiliated with the Baptist Faith. He proudly served his country in United States Air Force. Robert lived most of his life in this area. He lived in California from 1961 until 1991. After serving in the military he had worked as a dairy farmer, pipeline worker, he also sacked and processed at a grain mill and worked at a metal scrap yard. Robert enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, traveling, eating, cooking and raising his children. He loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren would often hear those famous two words "Oh Boy". He never met a stranger without a smile, wave and sometimes a wink.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Donna Gail Gallagher; two sons Mark Daniel Gallagher and Robert David Gallagher II; four sisters Maggie, Elsie, Ruthie and Vesta Lou; three brothers Bill, Pat and Jack.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory one daughter and son-in-law; Kathryn and Jim Lewin of New Boston, TX; one brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Billie Gallagher of Winthrop, AR; two sisters Opal Robertson of New Boston, TX and Bertha Mae Vandenburg of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Southern Baptist Church, Crossroads, AR. Bro. Jason Dudley of Oak Ridge Baptist in Maud, TX will officiate. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery, Winthrop, AR.
