A retired farmer, Thomas Bert Elliott, died Sunday night at the Flint Hills Manor. He had farmed at Neosho Rapids and also farmed for 28 years in Chase County (KS). He moved to Emporia in 1967, living for a time at 616 Neosho St.
Mr Elliott and wife, Anna, wold have observed their 75th wedding anniversary Thursday. Family members had planned to join them for refreshments at the nursing home that afternoon.
The son of Jessie and Alice Jones Elliott, Bert Elliott was born Nov. 21, 1889, at Cummings, Kan. He married Anna Joy Hailey in Cottonwood Falls on May 17, 1909. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Walter E. Elliott of Topeka and Byron L. Elliott of Virgil; one daughter Mrs. Ralph (Velma)Williams, Rt. 5; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. One brother Earl Elliott, one sister, Pearl Byrnes, a daughter, Mildred Beyer and three grandchildren died earlier.
The Rev. Larry Seybold of Grace Uneited Methodist Church will conduct the funeral service Wednesday at 1:30p.m. at Blair-Carlson Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Neosho Rapids.
