Graveside services for Marva Jo Berry, 83, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler with the Rev. Jamie Hogan officiating under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Berry passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Tyler.
She was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Little River, Arkansas, to Benjamin Franklin and Iva Oglesby Dickerson.
Marva was a member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ in Palestine.
She graduated from Winthrop High School in Winthrop, Arkansas, attended Southern State University and graduated with a B.A. in education from Baylor University in Waco. Marva was a social studies teacher at Rosebud-Lott ISD from 1966 to 1975. She volunteered for ETMC for 19 years and held the office of president in 1996.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Nelson Berry; grandson, Steven Geoffrey Berry; sisters, Etna Dickerson, Arley Dickerson and Elza Broomfield; and brothers, Arthur and Jack Dikerson.
She is survived by her loving family including son, Kenneth Geoffrey Berry and wife Kimberly, of Rusk; grandchildren, Cherie Sanchez and husband James, of Rusk, Jessica Conway Turknett, of Belfare, Washington; great-grandchildren, Michael, Adrianna, Brianna and Aubrey; brother, Mack Neal Dickerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
