His father was a wagon driver for a refinery. Rebel was the oldest of four brothers born to the family which was living at 1591 Fannin Street in Beaumont. In 1942 Rebel registered for the draft in World War II. He lived at 1776 College Street and was working for Oil City Brass Company. He listed his place of birth as Liberty, TX. (findagrave)
