- Crystal M. Phye, 94-year-old former Mooreland resident, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 in the Greenbrier Skilled Nursing in Enid. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Rev. Gaylon Cox officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home, Woodward in charge of arrangements.
Crystal Marie (Morrow) Phye was born on Nov. 2, 1913 in Woodward, Okla. to Clinton Lincoln and Vina Carey Morrow. Crystal attended schools in Kansas City, Kan., Columbus, Mont., Fruitland, Idaho and Woodward. She worked in the Woodward area for several years. Crystal was united in marriage to Robert Lloyd "Bob" Phye in Medicine Lodge, Kan. on May 11, 1936 and lived in Mooreland ever after. She worked at the Mooreland Hospital from 1966 thru 1975 as a Nurses Aide. Bob preceded her in death on July 13, 1984. Crystal continued living in Mooreland and moved into the Mooreland Heritage Manor in 1997 after suffering a stroke and returned to good health in short order.
Crystal joined the Rebakah Lodge in Woodward in 1933 and has maintained her membership for many of those years. She joined the Triple-M Club in 1944 and was active for many years. Crystal loved being with her family and enjoyed life.
She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Phye and his wife Barbara of Wichita, Kan.; William C. Phye and wife Becky of Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Bobetta Shaw of Enid; Sue Burns and husband Roger of Mineral Wells, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Vina Morrow; one brother Roy Morrow in 1952, one sister Bessie Pinkerton in 1996 and several grandchildren.
