HIS INDENTURE made the 21st day of July in the year of our Lord 1740 Between GARRETT ONEAL of ORANGE County of one part and JOHN MOTHERSHEAD of Westmoreland County and Parish of Washington, Planter, of other part; Witnesseth that GARRETT ONEAL in consideration of the sum of 5/ current money to him in hand paid by JOHN MOTHERSHEAD, the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JOHN MOTHERSHEAD all that parcel of land containing 50 acres more or less given by the Last Will and Testament of GARRETT ONEAL. deced, bearing date the 8th day of April 1729 to his Son GARRETT ONEAL party to these presents, bounded, Begining at a Bridge called the New Bridge and runing across to the CATTAIL BRANCH and down to a Main Swamp lying near the head of RAPPAHANNOCK CREEK, and the profits of the premises: To have and to hold the par- cell of Land and premises with appurtenances unto JOHN MOTHERSHEAD his heirs during the term of one whole year paying therefor the yearly rent of one Pepper Corn if lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transfering uses into possession, JOHN MOTHERSHEAD may be in the actual possession of the premises and be enabled to take a release of the inheritance thereof to him and his heirs: In Witness whereof GARRETT ONEAL hath hereunto set his hand and Seale the day month and year first above written
