- Justice of Peace who Lived all his life in Jefferson County Dies in Home of Daughter at age of 76
Funeral rites for R.A. McReynolds, 78, precinct 1, Justice of the peace who died yesterday morning in the home of his daughter, Mrs. K.C. Withers, Thomas road, will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon in the Withers Home.

Mr. McReynolds, justice of the peace for the precinct more than a decade and a lifelong resident of Jefferson county had been in ill health for some time, but had been able to up Friday. He became seriously ill Friday night.
Born in Sabine Pass
He was born in Sabine Pass during the Civil war, a son of Felix and Lara McGill McReynolds. His parents were natives of Georgia and came to Jefferson County during the middle of the nineteenth century. His father was a veteran of the war and worked as a land agent in Sabine Pass, being affiliated with the Kountze broughts who operated throughout this area.

While residing in Sabine Pass he was married to the late Rena Plummer McReynods, a member of a pioneer Sabine Pass family. She died last May.

Dies in Beaumont

Judge R.A. McReynolds, brother-in-law of Sam Barrow of Shreveport, died Saturday at 6:30 a.m. in Beaumont, Texas, according to a message received here.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in Beaumont with interment in the Magnolia cemetery.
Judge McReynolds was born in Sabine Pass, Texas, he son of Maj. F.C. McReynolds, who fought with Dick Dowling in the famous battle of Sabine Pass during the Civil War.
Mrs. McReynolds, sister of Mrs. Barrow, died in May 1940, Surviving Judge McReynolds are a son F.C. McReynolds, and a daughter Mrs. K.C. Withers, both of Beaumont.
