In addition to the DNA matches above, a MOHLER who lives in Switzerland who had previously tested with FTDNA, descended from Veith MOHLER of Diegten, Baselland, Switzerland. The ancestry of Mathes MOHLER who died
in 1712 has also been found to be a descendant of Veith MOHLER.

The Diegten Church Books contained records of a Matthiss MOHLER who married in 1692 to Margretha STRUB. No records of this couple were found at Diegten after 1696. Baptismal records for their children identified Matthiss as the son of Marti[n] MOHLER. It was found that Matthiss had a first marriage in 1673 to Anna Buser. In baptismal
records of their children, he was also listed as Marti's son.

Two men named Matthiss MOHLER, both born to men named Martin MOHLER, were baptized in Feb. 1647. The first was baptized 2 Feb. 1647, the son of Martin MOHLER and Anna Hägler. Other baptisms of children of this Martin identified him as Jacob's son. The second Matthiss was
baptized on 28 Feb. 1647, the son of Martin MOHLER and Elsbeth MEYER.
Other baptisms of children of this Martin identified him as the son of Baschi [Baschen].

Ludwig Mohler came from Switzerland in 1730 and located in this township, and had three sons, George, Jacob, and Henry. Of George we have no record. Jacob married and had a son and daughter. His daughter married a Mellinger, from whom probably sprang a large number of the Mellinger family in this county. The son, Jacob, married and had two sons,
John and George. George was a bachelor. John married and became the father of six sons and two daughters.

"Mathes/Matthis MOHLER could not be the father of a Ludwig MOHLER born 4 Apr. 1696, as Matthis had a son Heinrich born in Dec. 1696. He also had a son Ludwig that was born in 1705. However, Johann Ludwig was born 4 Apr 1696 but was baptized at 7 years old on 22 Nov 1703.
There were two sons Heinrich born to 2nd wife Margreth Strub:
one baptized 25 Nov 1696 but unknown how old he was when baptized. If bt in Nov, he was not born in Dec.
The other son Heinrich was bt 4 Mar 1694.
There is no conflict of births with either of these sons Heinrich.

Re a son Ludwig born in 1705, his name was also listed as Johann Ludwig and he was bt 22 Nov 1705; so again, we do not have his age at baptism.
"Our" Johann Ludwig Muhler was born 4 Apr 1696 and pt 22 Nov 1703 (again, at 7 yrs old). The first Johann bt 22 Nov 1705 vs the 2nd pt Nov 1703 -- looks like a mistranslation on the date of the bt.

Henry, Sr.'s will, signed 22 Aug 1769 and proved 22 Sept 1769 named son Henry Mohler and friend John Landis as executors for the estate and guardians over "all my minor children until their lawful age" [Lancaster will book B-1-637]. On 14 April 1774, a court hearing was held at the house of Henry Mohler. Henry Mohler and John Landis, executors for the estate of Henry Mohler, Sr., gave money to Martin, John, Elizabeth and Susanna [Orphans Court Record, April 1774]. On 9 July 1774, Martin, who has evidently come of age, received his inherited land [Deed S-33]. This deed reads: "And whereas the said Henry Mohler one of the Executors in the said last Will named died before the said Deed was executed whereby the sole Power of Executing the said Deed or Titles for the said lands is now vested in the said John Landis party hereto."

In the Name of God Amen. I Henry Mohler Senior of Cogollico Township Lancaster County being sick but of sound memory and Senses thanks be to God therefore calling into mind the Mortality make hereby this twenty second day of August Anno one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine mine last Will and Testament in manner as followeth; Imprimus, I recommend my Soul unto God my maker and my Body to my Family to be interred decently and after my funeral charges and other just debts are paid out of my Estate I dispose of the residue in the following manner.

To my beloved wife Barbara I bequeath the Sum of one hundred pounds Pennsylvania Currency to be her property forever which sum shall be paid first after all my other Debts are paid. Further I ordain that she shall have all the profits, uses, incomes and rents of that Plantation whereon I live at present so long till my second son John shall be arrived to his law-ful age for which income she shall be bound to Educate and maintain my Children until said my second son has his age but if my Executors should see that my said Wife should neglect my said Children or Plantation then they shall have power to rent out my Plantation and pay her the Rent for the aforesaid use during the said Term and my Executors shall be guardians over all my minor children untill their Lawful Age. Further supposing that my beloved Wife maintaineth well my family I ordain she shall have all the use Profits and income of all my movable Estate during the aforesaid Term but if my Executors should find it Necessary to rent out said my Plantation as aforesaid then I ordain that they shall sell all my movable Estate at Publick Vendue.

Item I ordain that when my said Plantation should be rented out or any other Necessity should call for it that then my Executors shall build a convenient House some where on my Plantation where they think proper for my wifes use to live therein during the Term of her being a widow and so long she shall Also enjoy the use of one third part of her Garden and further I bequeath to said my wife one fedder bed with all Cloaths thereto belonging, one chest, one Iron Pot, one frying Pan, one Pewter Dish, two Plates to be her property forever and further I ordain that any of my said sons which shall have the plantation whereon I now live shall give her from said my Plantation from the first year of his taking Possession thereof and every succeeding year during the term of her remaining a widow twenty pounds of Good sound Pork, twenty pounds Beaf, eight Bushels of wheat, the Loan of a horse when occasion occurs, necessary firewood to be cut and brought before her door, upon said my sons charges and to keep her a Cow in Fodder and Pasture during the Term but if my wife should marry again then from thenceforth all allowance granted her from said my Plantation shall cease and she besides the Legacy of one hundred pounds and the above mentioned Household utensiles shall have no further Right to my Estate either Real or Personal.

My eldest son Martin shall have my Plantation which I have lately bought from William Heaster and further he shall have from my Plantation joining the above Plantation and whereon I live at present forty acres more, to be taken by Advice of four Arbitrators indifferently chosen. Further I ordain that my said son Martin shall have one Moiety of Another Tract of Seventy Acres which I have bought from Daniel Good to be likewise divided by four Arbitrators indifferently chosen.

Item I ordain that my son John shall have the Plantation whereon I live at present (the aforementioned forty Acres excepted) and further I ordain that he shall have the other moiety of the aforesaid seventy Acres, to be divided as aforesaid. Further I ordain that four men Indifferently chosen between my sons and my Executors shall value all above mentioned Land which said Valued Price from said Lands shall be divided among all my Heirs from said my Wife Barbara (when first my legacees are therefore deducted) shares alike, and said my sons after having deducted their respective shares shall pay the rest of their Coheirs, Elizabeth and Susanna in Terms ordained by the aforesaid Arbitrators and further I ordain that my said two sons also satisfy the other Heirs as aforesaid or giving good security for their shares my Executors or any of them then alive shall by Good Lawful Deeds convey over to each of my sons his respective share of land as aforesaid to have and to hold the said Lands to him his heirs and Assigns forever and such deed I acknowledge hereby as valid & lawful as if I had Executed the same in person.

To my son Jacob I give and bequeath the sum of thirty pounds money aforesaid to be paid within a half a year after my Death and besides this neither he nor his Heirs shall have any right to my Estate.

To my son Henry I give and bequeath the sum of thirty pounds money aforesaid and besides this neither he nor his Heirs shall have any Right to my Estate.

Item I give and bequeath to the Poor the sum of ten pounds to be divided to them by said my Executors.

Item I ordain that my son Martin being yet under age shall pay rent from the Lands alloted to him untill he shall have been arrived to his Age, every year twelve pounds Money aforesaid.

Item I ordain the residue of my Estate not disposed herein before shall also be divided among said my Heirs Martin, John, Elizabeth and Susanna shares alike and my son Martin shall not have two shares.

Finally I constitute Executors of this my last Will and Testament my loving friend John Landes and my son Henry Mohler to which I have the best Confidence. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Day and year first above written.

At the baptism of his child Anna Catharina in 1747, Henry MOHLER was listed as a sheep herder. That likely accounts for why the three baptisms located were at different locations. Hassloch is east of Horbach. Note Elmstein which is on the west side of the Hassloch map and east side of the Horbach map for comparion.
Böbingen is just a few miles south of Hassloch.

Baptisms for the other three children may be found in the future at some church in the area for which the records have not yet been examined.

Research Notes:
Joseph, my ancestor, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I have found no conclusive record of his parents other than what's posted in numerous trees with no sources. If, indeed, his father was Ludwig, Jr., then his father did not immigrate at the same time as Ludwig, Sr. The ship manifest shows that Ludwig Sr. crossed with his wife and three sons, and those three sons were said to be, according to unsubstantiated entries, George, Henry, and Jacob. Yet another said "George of John." So, if John, then that would account for Johann Ludwig, Jr., who would have been 4 yrs old.
He would have settled in Frederick Co Maryland sometime after 1749 because Joseph was born in Lancaster. According to what's general consensus on him, he died in 1776. The History of Lancaster book was written in 1883 and did not include him. It also said nothing more was known of Sr.'s son George other than he made the voyage. Could somehow George and Ludwig Jr. be one and the same?

With all that said there is an article regarding Muhler Y-DNA testing that states:

The consensus also says that Ludwig Jr.'s wife was Anna Huntseker, and I have been unable to find a good source for that. I did find where an Anna Huntseker was passenger on the ship Pennsylvania Merchant, John Stedman, Master, from Rotterdam. Qualified Sep. 11, 1731. She is included in the list of "Women's names above 16" along with a Eliz. Huntseker and a Frena Huntseker. In the general list of passengers is a Hartman Huntseker and a Martin Hunseeker. Another list shows Anna Huntseker, Ursul Huntseck, Meyer Huntseker, and Hannes Hunseker.

John Martin Peterson was born in Switzerland, as already stated, May 20, 1730, and came to this country with his parents July 23, 1736. After they had been in this country some time, he was taken prisoner by the Indians, as were also his three step-sisters and a Mr. Moser, and his wife, formerly Eve Elizabeth Harper. The others who had been in the party were killed by their captors, but John M., managed to escape. He made his way back to North

Carolina, and then married Miss Teeter, by whom he had
three sons and three daughters: Jacob, John (father of the subject of our sketch), Joseph, Elizabeth, married to Garrett Boots; Barbara, -married to Peter Hoffman, and Rosanna, married to David Hoffman. To return to our captives a short time: Mr. Moser was killed by an Indian with a tomahawk, while he was sitting on a log with his wife; she was kept six years a prisoner and slave, and then exchanged by the French and Indians at Upper Sandusky. She afterward was married to Jacob Peterson. After fourteen years, Anna Maria was delivered to her brother, Jacob. She went back to Virginia, and afterward to Ohio, where she died in Ross County, and was buried on the north fork of Paint Creek. The other two girls were given to the French. Annie Maria Barbara married a Frenchman named Lewis, and it is thought Lewis, the Pocky Mountain explorer, was a son of hers. Trina Bettie was taken to France, but afterward returned to Philadelphia, where she died of the mcasels. The period of the death of John Martin Peterson and Teeter Peterson is also lost, but we have assurance they lived to quite a good age.

John Martin Peterson, and he came from the State of Virginia to Ohio and identified himself with the very early settlement of this state. It is said that he first located in the wilderness where the city of Columbus now stands. That was a very unhealthy region, and on that account he moved to Ross County, and lived several years in Concord Township. Finally he moved to Indiana and spent his last years there.

Remnant Tax Digest, Leaves Gone Front and Back. Explanatory: This is the first tax digest found in the court house, and was taken to give a practically complete census of the heads of families of that date, to identify their lands as headrights, and possible bounty grants for Revolutionary service, and to replace in a measure the census of 1790, all of which for Georgia was destroyed by the British during the War of 1812 in Washington, D. C. There is no complete digest until 1802, only a few pages left in the interim. The remnants for 1792, 1793, 1794 have been published in "Some Tax Digests of Georgia" Ruth Blair, State Historian and Archivist, and give valuable information. The largest congregation was north of Boonesboro, toward Limestone. It was on Hinkston Creek, near Mount Sterling Kentucky. Jonas Hahn and his son Peter were here, as were the Welty, Kern, Rebelin, Ramsey, Moler, Garver/Garber, Ockerman, Keithley, Landess, Hendricks, Coleglazer, Lantz, Rowland, Sears, West, Wyatt, Zimmerman families. This was a "Brethren Association" church, and went Disciples after 1826.

Joseph Moler undoubtedly spoke German and was a member of the early German Baptist Church. While in Kentucky, the Molers, along with the Welty, Ockerman, Keithley and Landess families, were prominent in the Brethren congregation formed at Hinkston Creek, Bath County and their meeting place on Somerset Creek, Nicholas County, now East Union. Many of these families relocated to Highland County, Ohio in the first years of the 19th century, Joseph Moler going there about 1814.

The Crose Families. Michael Crose was born in Maryland in 1765, or earlier, and his wife, Mary Crose, was born in Virginia in 1769. They were both members of the German Baptist or Dunkard Church. They both spoke the German language and brought their German Bible with them to Kentucky about 1780. In all probability their ancestors came to Pennsylvania with a colony of German Baptists in 1719 from near Kassel Hess, in Westfalia Province, Germany. This colony spread over parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, and finally a small community came to Bourbon and Nicholas counties, Kentucky. Among them were Blounts, Shrouts, Molars, Hahns and the Crose or Krauses. They built a church at the forks of Somerset Creek in Nicholas County, which they named East Union, and in which they preached in the German language.

He chose to locate his land grant on Kerr Survey No. 6, 713, northwest of Danville. The Moler farm was taken over by the pioneer, Jacob Landess, as early as 1815. He was a Dutch Quaker from Pennsylvania.

It is my will that all these being my lawful heirs shall have what ... equally divided among them after all Just Claims is paid of my burial expenses and of settling my estate and I do hereby appoint my son John Moller my sole executor to settle the estate and as part of my children live at a distance and none of them are dead when the money can all be made ready which cannot be til December 1839 if it should [ill] then and when it may be collected John shall not be bound to pay them interest. The reason for this is some of the grandchildren which will be heirs being young and scattered it may be some time before they get it therefore they are only to have got it when they may an equal part of the sum total when a dividend is struck whereas I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of January 1836 as my last Will and testament. That Joseph Moller left no widow and that said John Moller is the sole executor of the last will and testament of said Joseph.

I found Joseph Moler later at the Falls Creek Church in Highland Co OH and the hint/possibility that he died at the home of his son, John Moler at the Obannon or Stonelick Church. I have not found any grave for Joseph or John around Stonelick. There is a Moler Road just northwest of the present church or southeast of the Obannon Church where John Moler lived. I do not have a complete burial list of the Stouder Cemetery at the Obannon Church site just southeast of Goshen OH. The Stonelick Church sits at the edge of the Stonelick State Park near Edenton OH. The Park was made of several of the Brethren farms. The surviving congregation of the old Obannon Church is now pastored at the Stonelick Church of the Brethren.

Joseph died in Highland County and was buried in the Stouder Cemetery in neighboring Clermont County next to his wife Susannah, who had died earlier at the home of their son, John Mason Moler. The Stouder Cemetery was associated with families of the Obannon Brethren Church.

John remained in Virginia until October 18, 1806, when he came to Ross County, near Chillicothe. He remained at this place about four years, and then went to Franklin County, within seven miles of where the city of Columbus now stands. He only remained there over winter, however, and returned to within two miles of where he had come from in Ross County. At about this time his wife died, May 26, 1811.

In 1813, he was again married, to Miss Elizabeth Wells, by
whom he had eight children: Sarah, Delilah, Susan, Margaret, Mary, Jessie, Abram, and David. Of the first children Jonas is the only one alive; of the latter Abram, David, Susan, and Margaret are alive. John remained in Boss County until July 17,1817, when he came to the place where Jonas resides. This land at that time, with little exception, was in woods, and all manner of game was yet plentiful. Here he remained for quite a while, but eventually went west into Indiana, and then to Illinois, where he died in March, 18:19. His wife had previously died March 26,1837.

Will:
I, Isaac Moler of Nicholas County and State of Kentucky, do make this my last Will and Testament. First, that after my death all my just debts and funeral expenses be punctually paid by Executors and then that my estate, real, personal and mixed shall be equally divided between all my children with this exception: that whereas heretofore my son Alexander Moler purchased of my son Elza Moler all his interest or expected interest in all my estate for which he has paid him Three hundred dollars and as said sale was made by knowledge and consent and said payment of Three hundred Dollars has been made I therefore will and bequeath to my son Elza no portion whatever of my estate, but in order that said contract between my son Alexander Moler and my son Elza Moler may be carried out and have its effect according to the true meaning and intention thereof I therefore will and bequeath the portion of my estate which would have been given to my son Elza if no such contract had been made to my son Alexander Moler and that my meaning may be fully understood my Will is that Elza is to have no share of my estate and that Alexander is to have two shares of my estate both real and personal. I further will and bequeath that my executor hereafter to be appointed shall have full and complete power to sell and convey to the purchaser the farm on which I now live containing about one hundred and sixty acres be the same more or less with the exception of the graveyard lot in the Orchard which is not to be sold but which graveyard lot I will and bequeath to my son Alexander Moler and his successors in office forever for the use of a Graveyard, and whereas my Daughter Scilia Barbee has departed this life leaving two children Elijah and Isaac Newton both infants now, my Will is that said infant children shall be entitled to that portion of my estate to which their mother would have been entitled had she been living, that is to say that one eleventh part of my entire estate be paid to them by my Executors when they become twenty one years of age, but no portion of said estate is to be paid to them nor to any Guardian appointed for them until they become of full age. But the same shall remain in the hands of my Executors and be put to interest for their benefit until they are twenty one years of age and then paid to them by my Executors provided that my Executors may appreciate the interest of their share of any money in their hands belonging to said infants to their tuition and support and if in the discretion of my Executors it shall become necessary they take the principal for the support and tuition of said infants. Now as I have ten living children and one daughter Scilia Barbee who is dead now my Will is that my estate be divided into eleven equal parts and the children aforesaid of Scilia Barbee to have one part and my son Alexander Moler is to have two parts and my son Elza is to have nothing and each of my other children to have one part. And lastly I hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my son Alexander Moler and my friend Thomas Clark Executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other former wills by me heretofore made. Mrs. Murray's grandfather, Martin Peterson, bought a tract of choice land on the north side of Paint Creek in Concord Township. He was somewhat of a genius and a man of original enterprise. On his land he established a factory for the making of farm implements and wagons, and while conducting the factory he also superintended the clearing of a large tract of land. For many years he and his family lived in a log house, but in 1832 he erected a substantial brick building which with some enlargement and modifications is still standing. Martin Peterson lived there surrounded with the various activities which he had encouraged and created until his death. He married Elizabeth Coyner, who was born in Augusta County, Virginia, July 2, 1796. Her mother's maiden name was Hannah Lawwell. After the death of Martin Peterson the old homestead descended to the ownership of his son Albert C. Peterson, Mrs. Murray's father.

Jonas Peterson, sr., retired farmer, Xenia, was born in Hardy County, Virginia, September 8,1800.

Jonas' birth has already been recorded. He came to this state with his parents, and shared in all the hardships incident to the wild state of the country. His schooling was neglected to a great extent; in fact, when he first went to school he was so Dutch in his language that his schoolmates could not understand him, so he had to learn English before he could advance at all in his studies. But even after that his education was slow, as the schools were kept np by subscription, and the terms were necessarily short, as the patrons of them were, as a class, poor. He drove team when he was less than fifteen years old to Cincinnati, and hauled flour, etc. When he was thirteen years of age, he and a companion named James Shepherd, were sent out with horses to bring in some sick soldiers. They had very little money with them, and had to go further than they expected, and had to go without food themselves, so as to procure food for their horses. They rode thus more than ninety miles before they got anything to eat at all. It shows considerable energy and endurance in one so young. But a greater feat yet he performed when he killed a mad dog when he was eight years of age. Jonas learned the blacksmith trade by working after night, and became quite an artist in his line. When he was out of iron, he wiopd take the team and go to the iron works and haul long enough to earn a load of iron, and would then come home and work it np. Was married December 16, 1821, to Susanna Coyner (Kiner), by whom he had eleven children: John, married to Elizabeth Peterson, living in this county; David, married to Mary J. Armintrout, moved to Indiana, thence to Illinois, when he died near Champaign City in April, 1871; Parris H., married to Amanda Tresler, lives in Xenia; Martin, married to Catharine Shooke, who died, and fie then married Hannah Evans; Jonas, jr., married to Vina Bush, living near Spring Valley; Christian C., married to Mollie Bush, living with his father; Jane married John Hupman, but died; Hannah, married to John Mallow; Elizabeth, to Phillip Pagett, and Sarah to Silas T. DeWitt, and one died in infancy. With his wife he also got a copy of the Bible printed in German, and published in 1776.

Mr. Peterson and his wife joined the German Reformed Church in Xenia, in 1834. Before the meeting closed, there were thirtyfive accessions, and the next year Jonas welcomed forty-nine more to the church. He has been deacon and elder in the church until his declining health compelled him to give up. He was one of the building committee in 1844, when they erected their first church on Cresar's Creek. The foundations gave away a few years ago and since then they have erected another church building near the site of the old one. The money for the last one was mostly donated by the Petersons, or their connections. He served as ensign, orderly sergeant, and first lieutenant in the second regiment home militia, under Colonel Mallow. He served in all fifteen years. More frequently he served in the captain's place than his own, as the captain, Joel Peterson, was generally tardy. He was horn a Democrat, and never but once did he vote outside of the party, and that was in 1840, when he voted for General Harrison; he repented that, and never repeated the offence. His first vote was east in 1824, for General Jackson, when the House of Representatives put in John Quincy Adams. Mr. Peterson at one time paid taxes on one thousand four hundred acres of land, but he has since sold and divided it around. To pass away the time he now resorts to many pleasant methods, one of which is sewing patches for quilts. Within five years he has sewed patches and put together fifty quilts. He shows them to visitors with pardonable pride. He has eight children living, forty-seven grandchildren, and twentysix great grandchildren. He took quite a lively interest in all things, until October 2, 1878, and then his wife died. She was over seventy-seven years of age at her death, having been born March 26,1801. Mr. Peterson loves to go back over old times, and can interest any one who will listen to him. He is kind at heart, and social in his habits. He is devout in his manner of life, but is ostentatious in nothing.

Elizabethas buried in a masoleum, along with an infant daughter buried with her. Catherine's relationship to Elizabeth is undetermined, but best guess is sister-in-law.

one daughter who died in infancy and is buried with her mother on February 4, 1847, in the family cemetery on the original homeplace. One would suspect that both died at the time of childbirth. They rest in an above ground vault which is unusual for this part of the country. It was Catharine's death which is believed to have caused the start of the plot.

One of the well known residents of Clinton township is Joseph Moler, who was born in Nicholas county, Kentucky, June 2, 1834. In 1853 he came to Indiana and has since made this state his place of abode. He is the son of John and Sarah (Colliver) Moler, the former born in Bourbon county, Kentucky, in the same vicinity as his son, Joseph. His parents were Pennsylvania Dutch who came to Kentucky about 1790, his father, Joseph Moler, having been a soldier in the Revolutionary war. In 1853 John Moler and family came to Putnam county, Indiana, locating in Clinton township on the land where Joseph Moler now resides. It was then only partly cleared and had a few rude buildings on it, and here the elder Moler lived, and died on November 3, 1866, at the age of sixty-one years, having been born November 30, 1805. His wife died in 1856, at the age of forty-seven years. She was born in Montgomery county, Indiana, in 1809. Only one of their children was born in Indiana those to reach maturity were: Marr, who married Russell Allen, of Greencastle, and died in that city in 1873 or 1874; Joseph, of this review; Richard H., a farmer in Parke county, Indiana: Jeff. T., who lives in Louisiana, Missouri; Susan E., who married R. D. Hamilton and died when in middle life; Levi, who went to Missouri, where he died; Jemima, the wife of Mr. Hannah and living in Missouri; Presley C., a bachelor and still living on the old homestead; Emma J., who married Caleb Bratton, of Boone county, Indiana.
Joseph Moler was nineteen years old when he came to Indiana. He remained at home until he was twenty-five pears old, assisting in clearing the place. On November 1, 1859, he married Lucy P. Newgent, he being twenty-five and she eighteen; they had lived on adjoining farms for some time. A sketch of her father, Edward Newgent, appears elsewhere in this volume. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Moler spent two years in Pulaski county, Indiana, then moved back to Putnam county on the farm of Mr. Moler's father, taking charge of part of it. In 1868 he rented and took charge of the entire farm of two hundred and forty acres. Later he bought the interests of others in the home place, owning eighty acres. He has made extensive improvements on his place, building a fine home in 1891, and he has good barns and devotes considerable time to stock raising, making grains also a specialty, feeding what grain the place produces. He has laid two hundred and fifty rods of tile. He is very successful as a general farmer. Mr. Moler is an independent thinker and keeps well posted on political and current events. He is no partisan and always votes for the men whom he deems to be the best qualified for the offices sought.
Three children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Moler, one of whom died when ten years of age. Levi Shelby Moler is a farmer in Clinton township, he was candidate for nomination as county clerk in 1910. Stella May married J. S. Brown, a farmer of Woonsocket, South Dakota.
On November 1, 1909, was celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Moler's fiftieth wedding anniversary, which was quite an event in the Moler family and greatly enjoyed by all who were fortunate enough to be present. The only anniversary guest who was also present at their marriage was John Newgent, cousin of Mrs. Moler, he having enjoyed the celebration after a half century lapse from the nuptial day almost as much as the elder1y couple themselves. Rev. Joseph Skeeters, now deceased, performed the marriage ceremony.
Fraternally Mr. Moler is a Mason and he takes a great interest in Masonry, endeavoring to live up to its wholesome teachings in his every day life.

Allen Moller, farmer, P. O. Sharpsburg, was born on the farm where he now lives, Jan. 27, 1818, and is a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Welty) Moller. He was born in Georgia, in 1780, and was one of the early settlers in Kentucky, where he died in 1825. His wife Elizabeth, was born in North Carolina in 1783, and died in 1870. The result of their union was eleven children. Allen, our subject, was educated in the common schools of Nicholas County and entered upon his career in life as a farmer. He was married in Bourbon County, Oct. 17, 1867, to Mrs. Matilda Bramblett, widow of Henry Bramblett, and daughter of Covington and Sarah (Crouse) Utterbach. He was born in Virginia and died July 20, 1864. His wife was born in Bourbon County and died Jan. 15, 1879. Mrs. Moller was born in Bourbon County, Aug. 19, 1830. Mr. Moller is a member of the Christian Church at Sharpsburg; has also been a prominent member of the Masonic order for a number of years. He owns a farm of seventy-five acres, and is an energetic and enterprising farmer. He is a Republican.

In the name of God amen, I Allen Moler of the County of Nicholas and State of Kentucky knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.
First: I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
Second: I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Malinda Moler for her use and benefit during her natural life all my real property situated in Nicholas County, Kentucky and to the said Malinda Moler I will and bequeath absolutely all my personal property including stock of every description, cash money notes, farming implements, machinery, and all my house hold and kitchen furniture.
Third: I will and desire that at the death of my wife Malinda Moler that the Real Estate herein before mentioned after having been duly advertised to be put up and sold to the highest bidder, the terms of said sale to be one third of the purchase price thereof cash, and the other two thirds in one and two years, due and payable. Said deferred payments to beaer interest and the proceeds of the sale of said Real Estate divided as hereinafter described.
Fourth: I will and bequeath to Thomas S. Bramblett my stepson who has resided with and worked for me since he was of the age of ten years, and who has been a kind and dutiful stepson, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500). Said sum to be paid to Thomas S. Bramblett out of the proceeds of the sale of the Real Estate herein willed and bequeathed to his mother Malinda Moler during her natural life.
Fifth: I will and bequeath that the Remainder of the proceeds of the sale of said real estate herein before spoken of after deducting the Five Hundred Dollars ($500) willed and bequeathed to my step-son Thomas S. Bramblett be equally divided between the legal heirs of my sister Catherine Breckenridge Decd. who died a resident of the State of Illinois, the said heirs or heir of said Catherine Breckenridge to receive together that portion which would have fallen to the parent had he been now living.
And my nephew John Bell and Joseph Bell, who were and are the legal heirs of my sister Matilda Bell now deceased, said John and Joseph Bell to receive together that portion which would have fallen to their mother Matilda Bell had she been now living.
And my sister Zilla McVey, who is a resident of this Nicholas County,
and my sister Susan Kookendoffer who is a resident of this County and the wife of G.W. Kookendoffer,
and my sister Joann Kookendoffer who is a resident of this County and the wife of Wm. Kookendoffer,
and my half brother Henry Moler who is a resident of Boon County, Indiana.
I name and appoint my friend and brother-in-law Samuel H. Booth as my Executor to execute this will and he is hereby authorized and impressed to make sale at the proper time of the Real estate spoken of herein, and to convey the same to the purchaser thereof. Being afflicted by the almost entire loss of my Eye-sight, and having had this will read in my hearing and understanding fully and perfectly its contents I hereby authorize the above named Samuel H. Booth to sign my name to the same, and request him to guide my hand in making my mark herein. Witness my hand this 26 day of June 1885.

Death of a Giantess.
The agent of Miss Kate Keathley (Keithley), the Missouri giantess, was telegraphed at this city Wednesday morning to the effect that Miss K. died on Saturday last, at her home, about twenty-five miles from St. Louis.
She had just returned from a trip to Omaha.
Many people all over the country will remember Miss Keathley, probably the heaviest woman ever exhibited.
She weighed 812 pounds. (sic: postcard said 675 lbs)
Her education was much better than is usually possessed by persons of her class and she was able to converse intelligently and agreeably with her visitors.

Findagrave shows her birth in 1842. The postcard of her was in 1865, at which time she was 23 years old. They mistakenly calculated her birth as though she died the year of the postcard. She actually died at age 35.
