    MEDORA - Charles L. Smith, 63, was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:10 a.m. today at Jersey C ommunity Hospital, Jerseyville.
    Born in Calhoun County, son of Charles A. and Ruth (Herter) Smith of Hardin, he was a machin e repairman at Owens-Illinois until retiring in 1979 after 32 years of service.
    A veteran of World War II, he married the former Marian Maple on Apr. 12,1941.
    In addition to his, parents and wife, surviving are two daughters, Ruth Ann Odell of Wheato n and Virginia Bruhn of Staunton; five sons, Charles Gary and Thomas L., both of Jacksonville , James M. of Jerseyville, Donald J. of Hixson, Tenn., and Steven F. of Ft. Worth, Texas; 1 2 grandchildren: a sister, Mildred Kinder of Hardin; and a brother, Robert G., also of Hardin .
    Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Warner-Targhetta Funeral Home in Medora, wher e services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev Charles Barnes officiating.
    Burial will be in Kemper Cemetery, and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church has been named as a memori al.

    Robert Smith
    HARDIN
    Robert G. Smith, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitat ion Center in Jerseyville.
    He was born on Oct. 17, 1920, in Hardin to Charles A. and Ruth (Herter) Smith.
    He married the former Nina E. Hardwich on June 29,1951. She survives.
    He served in the Army during World War II. He worked at Alton Box Board and later retired fro m the Grafton Boat Works. He was a member of the Hardin Presbyterian Church.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael C., and his wife, Jane, Smith
    of Hartford; two granddaughters, LeAnn Smith and Jackie Presley; one greatgrandson, Kevin Pre sley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Dean Stilwell; a grandson, Mike Smith Jr. ; and several brothers and sisters.
    Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hanks- Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, where th e Rev. Paul D. Frazier will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
    Burial will be at Hardin City Cemetery, with military graveside services.
    Memorials may be given of a charity of one's choice.

    Robert married Nina T. Hardwick on 29 Jun 1951. Nina was born on 30 Sep 1917 in White Hall, Greene, Illinois; died on 4 Dec 2007 in Jerseyville, Jersey Co, Illinois; was buried on 7 Dec 2007 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    KINDER
    HARDIN - Mildred Emma Kinder, 70, died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 1992, at her residence a fter a brief illness.
    She was a telephone operator and contractor, retiring in 1959, and a member of Hardin America n Legion Auxiliary Post 636.
    Born in Hardin Aug. 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Herter)
    Smith.
    She married Glen Kinder in Pittsfield Aug. 9, 1958. He died Sept. 21, 1992.
    Surviving are a son, Paul David Kinder of Hardin; two daughters, Gayle Sinclair and Glenda St ucker, both of Jerseyville; six grandchildren; and a brother, Bob G. Smith of Hardin.
    A son, Robert 0. Smith; and a brother, Charles Smith, preceded her in death.
    Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, where services
    are at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. R. Ankney will officiate.
    Burial is in Hardin Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church In Hardin, where she was a member.

    Mildred married Glen Charles Kinder on 4 Aug 1958 in Pittsfield, Pike, Illinois.     Robert O Smith, 32, of Bethalto, was found dead Thursday at his home.
    A Vietnam War veteran, be was a tractor driver for Owens-Illinois Glass Co.
    He is survived by his mother and stepfather. Mr and Mrs Glenn (Mildred) Kinder of Hardin; hi s grandparents.
    Charles Smith of Medora and Mrs. Ruth Smith of Hardin, two half sisters. Glenda and Gayla Kin der, both of Hardin; and a half brother. Paul Kinder of Hardin
    Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Hanks Funeral Home, Hardin.
    Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m Monday at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery.
