In a new book, Creating Capitol Hill, Mary Hill Carroll\'s death is listed as 1822. The Carroll family tree in the book doesn\'t show her second marriage to Ignatius Fenwick. They list her as being born in 1744.
After Fenwick\'s death she continued to live near her son Daniel Carroll on the south slope of Capitol Hill. In 1800 just as Washington City was welcoming congress an angry purchaser of building lots objected to her own house being in a planned street and the shacks of her slaves also being in the way.
Mary married Charles Carroll about 1763. Charles was born on 12 Sep 1729 in Prince George Co, Maryland; died before 23 Mar 1773 in Prince George Co, Maryland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
Mary married Ignatius Fenwick on 10 Jun 1780 in St Mary's Co, Maryland. Ignatius was born about 1740; died before 26 Jan 1796 in St Mary's Co, Maryland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
