    I looked for one of my Moyers in NC and found only one, Joshua Moyers 1779 Washington Co NC (prob)

    Joshua Moyers is son of Christopher Moyers Jr. 1740 VA; d 1815 TN. (He's in SAR)
    HOWEVER, Christopher had property in North Carolina (now White Pine, Jefferson Co, TN)
    N. C. land grant was located 6/8 miles east of the Kuntz's on Long Creek a tributary of the French Broad, in what today is the town of White Pine, Jefferson Co TN.

    I desc from James Moyers b 1767 who married Mary Blackburn b 1768 to my John Blackburn SR and Janet O'Neal Mathes.

    the John B, Moyers b 1764 NC could have easily ID'd himself to be from NC. Not many dates are concrete, including John B's b.d. since they were often off a bit - but he's in the right age range to be child of Christopher & Susanna.

    Now, looking at your James Blackburn b 1787 - my John Blackburn's kids have a gap bet 1785 and 1789.

    My Blackburns have strong connections to Jefferson Co TN but looking at today's maps, TN, NC and eastern TN are bound to have overlapping borders of the centuries and places can sometimes be deceiving to their time.
    If I'm right, that would mean John B. Moyers, living next to James would be his bro-in-law.

    Hope you can make heads and tails of this -- it's too close to not be so - maybe a tweak here and there - but that's got to be who they are. I'm going to attach them in my files and note as question marks so you can see how I think it goes.

He settled in Nacogdoches County Texas about 1840. He married Lizine Elizabeth Grayson 3 Oct. 1850 in Nacogdoches Co. He had at least 2 brothers who served in Confederate States Army.

    "I notice that you end with James G. I have 2 more proven generations. James Blackburn who married 2nd Louisa Wilson McDaniel. I THINK James G. is from the first wife. He had full siblings John and Margaret. The rest were half siblings. All I have for his birth date are 3 census records. 1850 and 1870 show him born too early to be Louisa's and the 1860 which shows a later date and possible. I tend to think that the 1850 census "the year they were married" is more nearly correct. James G Blackburn's grandfather was James A. Blackburn. I have an approved DAR application for him. Also an 1812 approved ancestor "James Blackburn." I also have a DRT approved ancestor "James G."

    I'll go out on a limb and say it looks like he's from 2nd wife. Her children are like clock work every two years. Married Oct 1828 and Louisa b 1831. Plenty of time for a first born of that marriage 1829/1830. right in range of when James G. thought of his age.
    Margaret (dau of 1st wife) b 1825. Three years more comfortable a time span to have lost a wife, grieve, find a new wife, and remarry. Louisa could have lost a first born, but looks like she had healthy childbearing - and there's a perfect slot for James G.

    That grim monster, Death, has been in our midst and taken from us one of our best citizens, in the person of Rev. Wm. Blackburne, after an illness of only a few days with pneumonia. When breathing his last, his aged mother [Louisa McDaniel Blacubrn] was brought, a corpse, from Palo Pinto County to his residence. Both were conveyed to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery and interred in one grave. Mr. Blackburne was buried with Masonic honors.
