Hello Sherry!! I emailed you earlier tonight but not sure if you got it or not and then I found this message...

My husband's 3rd great grandmother was Susan Snider/Snyder... She was a sibling to John Warren Snider/Snyder... Their parents were Abraham Snyder/Snider and Elizabeth Craig... Still searching on a marriage date for them...

I just started searching this line and found two of the Snyder kids settled in Christian. John and Susan's sister (just one of their siblings) Nancy married Jacob Kline in Jersey County and they settled in Christian County also...

I am glad I found your post... I was looking for death dates of John and Louina Jane... I can't find John in the 1920 census so I thought maybe he died pre 1920-- Do you have him in the 1920 census somewhere?

Thanks for the info and let me know if you want any of the info on other siblings... I have quite a bit as far as kids and census records... Like I said I just started researching this side so haven't got much more than census and children right now...

Hello... Just read your post on ancestry...

I have birth and death dates for John Warren Snyder's parents also and have pics of their stones... they are buried about a quarter of a mile from my house...

Here are the children of Abraham Snyder and Elizabeth Craig (who was born in North Carolina)...

So far I have only found John being in Civil War...

Abner and his wife are buried at Hardin Cemetery, Hardin, Calhoun, Illinois... Will be taking pics soon

I also believe James and Rebecca are buried there also... I am waiting on my friend to get home from her weekend away with her hubby to look in the cemetery book for Calhoun County...

I am wondering if Nancy and Jacob Kline are buried in Morrisonville Cemetery also like John and Jane are???

From Susan to Hannah or John were born in Smith Co., TN... The rest in IL... I "thought" John was born in TN but according to the Illinois Civil War Detail Report says he was born in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co, IL...

Funny thing about Hannah...

Susan married Dr. James A Piggott... Dr. James was married before and had 4 children... one being George Piggott... Hannah married George last 1860's.. So Susan was George's step son but also her brother-in-law...

Hannah and George (husband) and one of their adult children are also buried at the cemetery near here... George and Hannah had a set of twins that died as little ones who are also listed to be buried at the same cemetery... Need to stop by there this week and see if their stones are still there..

"He enlisted in the 97th Illinois Infantry Aug 9, 1862, and entrained at Camp Butler. Traveled to Cincinnati -- Lexington, Kentucky -- Louisville, Kentucky -- Memphis, Tennessee -- Vicksburg, Mississippi -- Arkansas Post -- Vicksburg.
In April 1863, surrounded Vicksburg. Stayed until July 4, then went to New Orleans, in the dept. of the Gulf, scouting all the time. In '65 went to Blakely, Alabama, and was there when Lee surrendered. He was mustered out in Galveston, Texas and went back to Camp Butler, Aug 14, just three years to the day when they went into camp, where the following week he was discharged and went back to Jersey Co."

Funeral Notice: Died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Saturday Nov 7, 1925, at 5 o'clock a.m., John W. Snider aged 83 years, 9 months and 25 days. Funeral will be held from the Baptist church, Morrisonville, Illinois, at 2 o'clock p.m., Monday Nov 9, 1925, the Rev Herbert H. Smith, pastor, officiating, interment in the Morrisonville cemetery. The Lesile-Reddick Post will have charge of services.

Snider- John W. Snider 1235 North Fifth street died at 5 a.m. November 7, 1926 at St. John's hospital aged 83 years. Survived by five sons Joe, Thomas, William, James and Richard Snider; three daughters Miss Eva Snider, Mrs. Della Barnes and Mrs. Katie Hosteler; also fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Deceased served in Co. K 97th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War, three years. Member Dan Nutt Post G.A.R. Remains to Birch & Son's Home for services and will be taken overland Sunday to Morrisonville where funeral services will be held and burial made Monday.

"Parents or probably grandparents came from Wales to this country. They first settled in Pennsylvania and were of the Quaker religion.
Newspaper says he bought the Dick Harvey Farm 2 1/2 miles Southeast of Coffeen; has moved from Morrisonville to his new home. Mr. Snider paid $42.50 an acre for the farm and it is one of the best small farms in that neighborhood.
Married in Lutheran church.

A native of Morrisonville, Ill, she had lived in Beaumont 56 years.

RAYMOND L. MOYER, 74, of Beaumont died Friday at Beaumont Medical Surgical Hospital.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carroll-Wallace Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
A native of Springfield, Ill, he lived in Beaumont 62 years and was a retired adult education administrator in the Beaumont Independent School District with 40 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Moyer of Beaumont; son John Raymond Moyer of Austin; brothers Robert Earl Moyer and Arthur Leslie Moyer, both of Beaumont; sister Ruth Eggleston of Durango, Colo.; and three grandsons.

Arthur Moyer, 80, of Bevil Oaks, died Saturday, May 15, 2010. A native and lifelong resident of the Beaumont area, Arthur was born December 8, 1929, to Rose (Prose) Moyer and William Arthur Moyer. He was a retired manager with W.W. Grainger. Suvivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Mildred Moyer of Bevil Oaks; son, Glen Moyer of Shreveport, Louisiana and Allen Moyer and his wife Laura of Beaumont; daughter, Carolyn King and her husband Greg of Beaumont; grandchildren, Courtney King of Dallas, Christine Moyer and Ashley Moyer both of Beaumont; and sister-in-law, Gloria Moyer of Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Broussard's. Memorial contributions may be made to North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77706 or to the charity of one's choice. RIVERTON, Wyo. James E. "Jim" Snider, 80, of Riverton, Wyo., died Thursday, March 15, 2001 , in Riverton. Cremation took place and a memorial service was held on Sunday, March 28, 2001 , in Riverton. Cards can reach his family at: Evelyn Snider, 140 Hill Street, Riverton, WY 82 501.
He was born on June 9, 2001, in Scottsbluff, to Eli and Ida (White) Snider. He spent his chil dhood in Scottsbluff, and Arcadia. He attended Scottsbluff High School and during his high sc hool year, played football, and set a running record for the mile in track. He graduated fro m Arcadia High School in 1938. He married Evelvn York on December 17, 1938. They began thei r married life in New Plymouth, Idaho, moving to the Arapahoe community in Wyoming in 1950. H e farmed and was custodian at First Interstate Bank retiring in 1982. He was active in the Ar apahoe Grange and 4-H.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn; son Jim Snider Jr. and wife Marybelle; daughters Marlene W adley and husband Marvin, Karen Hinkle and husband Russell, and Christina Strauch; 11 grandch ildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pat Becker of Scottsbluff, Gwen Bartlet t of Lincoln, and Sue Carlson of Arlington, Texas.
