  1. 1.  Thomas Pate was born about 1743 in Virginia; died between 1803 and 1829 in Breckinridge Co, Kentucky.

    Notes:

    THOMAS PATE was born about 1747 in Virginia (Hanover Co.?)
    to Edward Pate and Martha Tinsley Pate. He served as Ensign in the Bedford County, Virginia Militia during the Revolution.
    Sometime after the 1800 census, he joined his son Benjamin Allen Pate in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Some believe his wife was Mary Allen and I believe she did not join him in Kentucky. On October 7, 1803 he wrote his will in Breckinridge County, Kentucky, but it was not brought into probate until after the death of his only son and child, Benjamin Allen Pate. The final probate was December 30, 1829.
    I believe he actually died shortly after he wrote his will and that it was not brought to probate sooner because he wanted to free his slaves. There was only one mention of Thomas Pate in the Breckinridge County records after 1803 and that was around 1805, regarding a court case that had been dropped.
    I joined DAR on Thomas Pate,, establishing a New Patriot in the process.
