Elizabeth Bates 2d daughter of Gabriel & Margaret was born at 7 of the clock in ye evening on the 20th October 1753 & baptized the last September following by the Reverend John Jones at the house of Henry Down's in Augusta County her sureties were John Madison & wife & Anne Tyler (uncle and aunts)

Elizabeth married John Lewis, Esq. (step-son) about 1755. John (son of Colonel Fielding Lewis and Elizabeth "Betty" Washington) was born on 22 Jun 1747 in Fredericksburg, Frederick Co, Virginia; died on 23 Nov 1825 in Russellville, Logan, Kentucky. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
