The people of Dover and vicinity were shocked Wednesday morning, February 4, 1920, to hear of the deaths of Kenneth Stanley Fox, age 16 years and William Harwood Lewis, age 20. Both these boys were born and reared in Dover and both had hosts of friends here. They had been working on the same farm together and were chums. Both took influenza about the same time. This in both cases developed pneumonia which proved fatal within a few days. Rev. Baxter Waters of the Lexington Christian church took charge of the double funeral services, which was held in Dover Christian church at 2:30 p.m. February 6. He took for the text, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth" which had been requested by one of the mothers, "Lead Kindly Light," rendered by male voices; "Somewhere" and "Nearer My God to Tee" by a picked choir furnished appropriate and beautiful music. The youn men were both members of the Dover Christian church, Kenneth having united when ten years of age, and William when 18. A circumstance that caused the event to be even sadder than ordinarily, was the absence of both mothers, who were too ill to be present. Those left to mourn for Kenneth were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Fox, a brother Lloyd, and an aunt, Miss Emma Miers. William leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Lewis, and two brothers, James and Harvey. To these bereft home folks, we wish to offer our sincerest sympathy, knowing as we do how both boys will be missed.
