1. | John Dent, Jr was born in 1674 in Chaptico Hundred, St.Mary's Co, Maryland; died on 8 Jun 1733 in Trinity Parish, Charles Co, Maryland. Notes:
JOHN DENT, JR., first surviving son of Capt. John Dent and Mary Hatch, was born about 1674 in Chaptico Hundred, St. Marys Co. Maryland according to deposition made in 1727. At the time he declared himself to be 53 years.
Neither he nor his brother George Dent participated in the political life of the Province, because of their ultra-liberal views and Lord Battimore regained his Province in 1715 so the conservatives or Proprietary Party in St. Mary's Co. were able to control the social and political stage. The Dents retired ot their plantations and farmed.Upon John death his son John Dent III devided the entire estate between the four sons, namely, John Dent III, Hatch Dent, Michael Dent and Benjamin Dent. The land " Dent's Inheritance" was eventually divided up amoung the respective heirs and became the seats of this branch of the Dent family. The concentration of the family within this small area which became part of Trinity Parish at its organization fostered a number of intermarriages among couisns which was more noticeable in this branch than the decendents of Judge Thomas Dent.
