    She kept a journal of the time the family lived in Oklahoma Territory, but it has not been located.
    "Aunt Lucille was something of a tragic figure to me, because she outlived (at 96) all her children; a daughter Winnie, who lived her adult life in Ohio and died in her early 40s of cancer. Her two sons were Sidney and Harold; Sidney was the victim of a hit-and-run accident, Harold died in his early 60s."

    Ralph's memoirs state she lived to be 96, having her die in 1984. However Findagrave shows her headstone in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles with the dates of 1888-1978, making her 90.

    Hi! My grandmother, Winnie, died at 58 of cancer and not in her early 40s. Her daughter, my mother, Deborah died in her early 60s of the same cancer: multiple myeloma.

    I?ve met Harold Jr. and he visited me at my home in San Diego, CA in the early 2000s. I also used to correspond with my nana, Winnie?s mom, and met her in the 1970s in Texas.

    I love all of this information, and I hope that one day, when I visit Louisiana, I can meet my kin. :)

    Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Ritter will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 in Creel Memorial Chapel, Reeves with Reverends Jeff Tyson, Greg Cavenah and William Currie officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder.
    Mr. Ritter, 83, of Reeves, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in his residence with his family near his side.

    James was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and retired farmer and real estate agent. He loved to garden and piddle in his shop. He was a Mr. Fix-It. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Daya Ritter and his brother, Fred Ritter.

    Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Jessie Reeves Ritter of Reeves; three sons, Randy Ritter and his wife, Coleen of New Iberia, Jamie Ritter and his wife, Harriet of Moss Bluff and Kevin Ritter and his wife, Helen of Kinder; one daughter, Angela Harrison and her husband, Greg of Franklin, Tennessee; two sisters, Laura Sonnier of Hemphill, Texas and Clara Valasco of Port Arthur, Texas; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
