At a Quarter Court held at James City the 7th of June 1656.

Upon the hearing of the cause concerning the will of Col John Mottrom and the estates of his children in whose possession soever either in Virginia or else where. It is with the consents of CoI. Speck and Mr. Colclough Overseers of the said will, ordered that the estates of the orphans shall wholly be delivered into the possession of Mr. Wm. Presly one of the Overseers of the said will and Mr. Colclough in right of his wife the relict of the said Col. Mottrom to have such of the household staff or shall be convenient for her according to the appraisement, and to give the said Presly a just account of all things which he have in his custody belonging to that estate and for the better enableing the said Presly to manage their estate and pay the debts, a Commission of administration to issue to the said Presly there upon he giving caution to the court to save them harmless and also to give security to deal justly therein and such allowence to be given to the said Presly for hispaines and the clothing and diet of the said children wheresoever they shall be kept as the Overseers can agree on not exceeding the annual benefit and produce of their estates due by the will and that what estate remains in being shall not be effected nor alienated to any other use then to the orphans, under the ordering of the said Presly provided always that the debts be duely paid and that the widow shall have her due thirds of land and personal estate and Col. Speke to deliver all the writings which belongeth thereunto unto the said Presly, further in case the said Presly refuse the administration then another administrator to be chosen by the three Overseers or the main part of them who is to give the like caution and to proceed as before specified. Whereas RICHARD LAKE, Gent? hath formerly made sale unto GEORGE COLCLOUGH of WICOCOMOCOE of a certaine p:cell of land comonly called HULLS THICKET being the moyety of land formerly belonging to Mr. THOMAS BROUGHTON & ( ); the said LAKE, Now know yee that I said RICHARD LAKE do hereby covenant & grant to & with ye said GEORGE COLCLOUGH his heires & Administrators by these pr:sents that he ye said RICHARD LAKE his Executors & Admrs., will affire & make good unto ye said GEORGE COLCLOUGH his heires and assignes of one moyetie of ye said Land so granted unto ye said BROUGHTON & that against all p:sons whatsoever; In Witness whereof the said LAKE hath hereunto put his hand & seale ye 20th day of January 1652.

Northumberland County Court 20th of April 1663
- Whereas SYMON DODSON was (by Maior GEORGE COLCLOUGH the last years) employed as Overseer of certaine Servants to make a Crop of Corne & tobacco. It is therefore ordered that Mr. ISAAC ALLERTON, whoe married with ye Relict & Admrx. of the sd, Maior GEORGE COLCLOUGH, shall forthwith allowe and pay the sd. SYMON DODSON the twelfth share of Corne & tobacco made by him & the sd. Servants
- It appeares to this Court that SAMLL. MAN as Admr. of JNO: BENNETT, deced., standeth indebted unto the Estate of Maior GEO: COLCLOUGH, deced., in the summe of three hundred seaventy and eight pounds of tobacco for Levies and Sherriffes Fees. It is therefore ordered that the said SAMUELL MAN shall by the tenth of Octobr: next make paymt. of the sd, summe of 878 lbs. of tobco unto Mr. ISAAC ALLERTON, whoe married with the Relict and Admrx, of the sd. Maior GEORGE COLCOUGH, als execucon & the Order
granted against the Sherriffe for want of ye sd, MAN's appeareance reversed
- Whereas EDWARD WILKINGTON was employed by Maior GEORGE COLCLOUGH the last yeare as Overseer of certaine Servants to make a Crop of tobacco at one of the sd. Major COLCLOUGHs Plantacons called STREET's NECK, It is therefore ordered that Mr. ISAAC ALLERTON, whoe married with the Relict and Admrx. of the sd. Major GEORGE COLCLOUGH, shall forthwith make payment of one full share & halfe of tobacco unto the sd. EDWARD WILKINGTON made by him & the sd. Servts.
- Whereas Mr, WILLIAM WILLDEY, Overseer of certaine Servants belonginge to Major GEORGE COLCLOUGH, together with two Servants of the sd.WILLDEYs made a Crop of Corne & Tobacco the last yeare at one of the Plantacons of the sd. Maior COLCLOUGH called HULLS THICKET, It is therefore ordered that Mr. ISAAC ALLERTON, whoe married with the Relict and Admrx. of the sd. Maior GEORGE COLCLOUGH, shall forthwith make payment of three full shares & halfe of Corne and Tobacco unto the sd, WILLIAM WILLDY made by him & the sd. Servts.
- Upon the peticon of Mr, ISAAC ALLERTON, Admr, of Maior GEORGE COLCLOUGH,
deced., it is ordered that an Apprizemt, bee made of an Estate that formerly belonged to Mr. SYMON OVERZEE, wch: was in the hands of the sd. Maior COLCLOUGH & not Inventoried with his Estate, although possessed therewith in right of his Wife but by the Relict of the sd. Maior COLCLOUGH presented to the Court & recorded; & it is further ordered that Mr.WILLIAM THOMAS, Mr. THOMAS BRERETON, EDWARD COLES and RICHARD SPANN bee apprizers of the sd.
