No known direct relationship to our family, however he was in-laws with John McGaffey. He was a prominent citizen of organizer of the town of Sabine Pass. comment: Our own Thomas Court sold Niles Smith a parcel of land for $150 on 23 Jun 1842 from his headright League & Labor which adjoined survey of John McGaffey. However, there was some dispute in Smith receiving possession of he land.
