  1. 2.  Thomas Stout was born in 1751 in Monmouth Co, New Jersey (son of Jonathan Stout and Hannah Jewell); died on 27 Oct 1837 in Augusta, Harrison Co, West Virginia.

    Notes:

    The Clarksburg, Va. county records shows that Thomas Stout entered 400 acres of land on Elk Creek, now Harrison County, in 1775, a grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia. He also entered 100 acres in 1816, and that in 1785 he was still living in the county with his family consisting of four persons.

    Thomas served as a spy in the Revolutionary War. He is listed on page 27 of Conklin Family History and was placed on the pension rolls Oct. 29, 1833 (Annual allowance of $80.00).
    He is listed in 1994 DAR Patriot Index and 1930 Allied Familes of Read, Corbin, Luttrell, Bywaters; Armstead Prichard

    Notes:

    Johnathan Stout (1715-1811); cleared land in 1772 in Monogahela (Harrison Co.), West Virginia, settled there in 1775 with sons Thomas, Daniel, and Bonham on 400 acres. These Stouts are known as the Simpson Creek Stouts, as they settled on that stream and organized the Baptist Church at that place, now known as Bridgeport, five miles east of Clarksburg, and where the stone of Johnathan stand today (1941).

    Jonathan married Hannah Jewell in 1750. Hannah was born on 14 Jan 1725 in of, New Jersey; died on 18 Apr 1805. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
