    HARDIN - Glenn F. Taviner, 75, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to his eternal r est at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.
    Born Jan. 27, 1923, in Hardin, he was the son of the late Edward and Flora (Smith) Taviner.
    He was employed at Olin Corp. in East Alton, retiring in 1985. In his younger years he playe d softball and basketball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served in the U.S. Army Ai r Corps in England during World War II.
    He married the former Shirley M. Breden June 18,1949, in Hardin. She survives.
    Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Taviner of Alton and Stev e Taviner of Hardin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Nick Siemer of Batchtown, Bar bara and Larry Burris of Hardin, Cheryl and Kevin Schwab of Jerseyville and Marian and Stev e Russell of Waverly; seven grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren;
    and a mother-in-law, Jean Breden of Jerseyville.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Edward Taviner; two brothers, Ralph and Jack Tavine r; and his father-in-law, Theodore Breden.
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, where fu neral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Paul D. Frazier officiating.
    Interment will be at St Norbert's Cemetery, Hardin.
    Memorials may be made to the Calhoun Ambulance Service or the American Lung

    Glenn married Shirley Breden on 18 Jun 1949 in Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois.     HARDIN
    Shirley M. Taviner, 71, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
    Born Sept. 9, 1930, in Hardin, she was the daughter of Theodore Jr. and Jean (Zipprich) Brede n, now deceased.
    She married Glenn F. Taviner on June 18, 1949, in Hardin and was a homemaker. He died Jan. 12 ,1999.
    She was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin.
    Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Taviner of Alton and Steve Tavi ner of Hardin; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Nick Siemer of Batchtown, Barbara a nd Larry Burris of Hardin, Cheryl and Kevin Schwab of Jerseyville and Marian and
    Steve Russell of Waverly; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet W illiams of Hardin and Sally Baalman of Batchtown.
    Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents was a son, Robert Edward Tavine r.
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hanks-Gubser
    Funeral Home in Hardin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
    St. Norbert's Catholic Church, with Father William Hembrow, celebrant.
    Burial will be at St. Norbert's Cemetery in Hardin.
    Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or Americ an Diabetes Association.

    HARDIN - The Rev. James Jarrell, pastor of the Hardin Presbyterian Church conducted
    funeral services at Hanks Funeral Home for Edward Taviner, 88, of Hardin, who died Saturday a t Jersey Community Hospital. Burial was in Hardin Cemetery.
    Mr. Taviner was a retired laborer.
    Surviving are three sons, Ralph and Glenn, both of Hardin and Jack of Granite City; 12 grandc hildren; six great-grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Ida McDonald, Mrs. Stella Reddish, an d Mrs. Dorothy Tucker, all of Hardin and Mrs. Nellie DeSherlia of Jerseyville.

    Edward married Flora A. Smith on 13 Jul 1910 in Calhoun, Illinois. Flora (daughter of Charles Smith and Mary E Snider) was born on 5 Apr 1891 in Rosedale Twp, Jersey Co, Illinois; died on 1 Dec 1973 in Jersey Community Hospital, Jerseyville, Jersey, Illinois; was buried on 3 Dec 1973 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois.     TRAVINER

    HARDIN - Mrs. Flora Taviner, 83, of Hardin, died early today at Jersey Community Hospital, Je rseyville.
    Surviving are her husband, Edward Taviner; three sons, Ralph and Glenn, both of
    Hardin and Jack of Granite City; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two brothers , Henry Smith of Hardin and Charles Smith of Medora.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hanks Funeral Home in
    Hardin with the Rev. James Jarrell officiating.
    Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery.
    Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Mary Smith Dies At Hardin
    HARDIN, April 13, (Special) Mrs. Mary Smith, 68, died at her home in this city at 8 o'cloc k Thursday morning following an attack of pneumonia from which .ihe suffered for several days . She was an invalid and had been confined to her home for a long time.
    Born June 2, 1866 at Elsah, Jersey county, she came with her parents, Mr. annd Mrs. James Sni der, to Hardin. and settled on a farm three miles west of the city, where the family engage d in farming.
    She was a prominent figure in church work, and her funeral will be held at the Pentecostal Ch urch here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial will be made in Hardin cemetery.
    She is survived by three sons, Charles, Edward, and Henry; and two daughters, Mrs. Edward Tra vernier and Mrs. Rebecca Travernier, one sister, Mrs. Ada Oeske; and three brothers, William , Henvy, and John Snider, all of Hardin.
