    (next door to David Burrell)
George was a farmer, stock raiser, living in Taylor's Bayou, Jefferson Co, Texas in 1870 (census). He apparently died before 1880 because his wife and son George, age 6 and daughter Electra, age 14, moved in with his son David and Martha, at lest during the 1880 census taking time. Also living with David and Martha were David's brother Frank, age 28, sister Sarah C, age 26, and a niece, Mabel, 1 year old. Since Sarah had not yet married, Mabel must have been Frank's child.

    Burrells First 30
It is believe the first settlers (under Mexican government then) in this area were the Burrell brothers, David and Robert, who lived on the tract of land at Taylor's bayou, which the Mexican government titled to David. That was in the third dade of the 1800s. Other families in that section in the early 1800 were W.H. Smiths, Joseph Roberts at a place now known as Hampshire, Tap Ashworth who lived south of the bayou, John Jap French who settled on the north side of the bayou.
Joseph Gallier, James Taylor, Bennett Blackman, William Carr, Lovan Hamshire, Joshuah Harmon, Michael Pevito (a Frenchman from New Orleans) David Garner, David C. Lawhon, Taylor White, are all the settlers of the 1830-1850 era. They settledn the section of the waters known as Bayou Las Flores, Rosebud bayou, Mayhaw bayou, and Turtle bayou. Taylor's bayou was named for Taylor White.

    Quite possibly this Robert:
A complete roster of Captain O'Brien's company cannot now be located. There are two men still residents of Beaumont who were members of that company, Jacob Gallier and H. W. Potter. From Mr. Gallier it is learned that Andy McFaddin , a member of Captain O'Brien's company, was killed in a Louisiana battle in a sugar field near Fordoche and that Robert Burrell, another Beaumonter, had a leg shot off
