    Joseph Gwinn's Will.
    I, Joseph Gwinn of CC, planter, am at present somewhat ailing and sick in body but of disposing memory and judgment. I wish to be buried in a Christian and decent manner without much expense.
    To my wife Elizabeth Gwinn - after my death, my land and plantation whereon I live (all I have in possession) shall belong, during life, to my wife, during her widowhood. Also Negroes George, Tom, Nathan, Ben, Sue, Jenny, Siar, and Hannah.
    To my son Benjamin Gwinn - all my land, after my wife's death. Also, Negroes Patrick, Carpenter, Will in discharge of any claim he may have against me (Plato and Rachael", and a bed and furniture and 10 sheep.
    To my daughter Anne Harris - I have already given her John, Bob, and Kate, a bed and furniture, and 10 sheep.
    To my son Joseph Gwinn - I have already given him Negroes Jacob, little George, and Alce, a bed and furniture, I heifer, and 10 sheep.
    To my daughter Violetta Gwinn - Negroes Milly, Suck. Sarah, Mark, & Bob, a bed and furniture, and 10 sheep.
    The rest of my estate, after my debts are paid, I give to my wife, including Negroes, horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, plantation and household furniture.
    Executors: As my several sons live at a distance and have full employment, otherwise long hieritands, I hereby appoint my wife, and my son-in-law, Thomas Harris of CC, joint executors.

Said Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn, father of the above named Joseph Gwinn, had, by virtue of a writ of ad quad damnum, purchased out of the High Court of Chancery of Maryland, on Sep 26, 1724, laid out by Daniel Jenifer, Esq, then high Sheriff of CC, and by a jury then on the premises, Colo Robert Hanson, Surveyor, 12 acres on Bennets Branch at the head of Poteets Cr in CC, whereon to build a water mill, in pursuance of which inquisition, sd Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn obtained from the Governor or Chancellor, an 8 year lease, with the yearly rent of 4 bushels of Indian corn. Said John Gwinn, by his will, bequeathed his moiety of sd land to afd Joseph Gwinn. Now sd Joseph Gwinn, for 50 shillings, has sold to sd Barton Hungerford, one moiety or half part of the 12 acres.     This Indenture Tripartite made the Thirtieth Day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Between Roger Smith of Charles County in the Province of Maryland Planter and Mary his Wife of the first part Barton Warren of Charles County in the Province aforesaid ^of the second part and Richard Brooke of S.t Marys County in the Province aforesaid^ Planter of the third part Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Current Money by him the said Richard Brooke in hand paid to the said Roger Smith and Mary his Wife at or before the ensealing and delivery of these Presents the receipt of which said Sum of five Shillings is hereby respectively Acknowledged and the said Richard Brooke his Executors and Administrators thereof and therefrom for ever by these Presents Acquitted and Discharged And for the Docking Barring and Extinguishing all Estates Tail and all eversions and Remainders thereupon expectant or depending of and in the Lands Tenements and Hereditaments herein after mentioned They the said Roger Smith and Mary his Wife Have Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Released and Confirmed and by these

Said Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn, father of the above named Joseph Gwinn, had, by virtue of a writ of ad quad damnum, purchased out of the High Court of Chancery of Maryland, on Sep 26, 1724, laid out by Daniel Jenifer, Esq, then high Sheriff of CC, and by a jury then on the premises, Colo Robert Hanson, Surveyor, 12 acres on Bennets Branch at the head of Poteets Cr in CC, whereon to build a water mill, in pursuance of which inquisition, sd Barton Hungerford and John Gwinn obtained from the Governor or Chancellor, an 8 year lease, with the yearly rent of 4 bushels of Indian corn. Said John Gwinn, by his will, bequeathed his moiety of sd land to afd Joseph Gwinn. Now sd Joseph Gwinn, for 50 shillings, has sold to sd Barton Hungerford, one moiety or half part of the 12 acres.
