7. | Notes: Martha came to Texas as a slave to the Mayes family. Many years late she donated land to build St. Paul's United Methodist church and a cemetery that bears her name., the Martha Godfrey Cemetery. Her grave stone indicates she was born c1812. However, all the census records indicate she was born about 10 years later. Besides, she would have been too old, were she born 1812, to have had many of the children attributed to her.
