Services will be today at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church with Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Vandiver was born April 16, 1942, in Childress to Jess Wendell and Lenna Lee Vandiver. He had worked for Texas A&M Research Center, Chevron/Texaco and Ford Country of Lewisville.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Vandiver; three sons, Chuck Vandiver of Rockwall, Shawn Vandiver of Lubbock and Joe Weir of Colleyville; three daughters, Melynda Vandiver of Rowlett, Holly Hugo of Canyon Lake and Mindy Miller of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Byrda Woodard of Abilene.

Wendell Vandiver, age 68, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in Bedford. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2010 in First Baptist Church with Kerry Wood officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wendell Vandiver was born to Jess Wendell and Lenna Lee Vandiver in Childress, Texas on April 16, 1942. Wendell used to work for Texas A & M Research Center. Later he worked for Chevron/Texaco. Recently, Wendell retired from Ford Country of Lewisville, TX.
