Will of William Johnson, Son of Dilmus Johnson the Elder
I, William Johnson do hereby make my last will & testament in manner & form following, that is to say (1st) that all my lands be sold on a credit of one, two & three yrs., the money to be paid in three equal annuel payments, from the sales thereoff, that all my just debts be paid (2dly ) after the payment of my debts, I give to my son in law Robt. Appleberry one dollar (in addition to what I have heretofore given him (and no more) 3rdly, I give to the children of my daughter Patsey (Deceased) Namely Rebecca, David, William, Lucy, Nancy and Miles Appleberry being the sons and daughters of my late daughter Patsey Appleberry (Deceased) (after the payment of debts) one ninthe part of my estate both real and personal to them and their heirs forever, to be paid to them as they shall become of a proper or lawful age (or at their marriage, etc.) 4thly all the residue of my estate both real and personal I give to my eight children, to wit Elizabeth Loving late Elizabeth Johnson; Susanna Luccado wife of Peter Luccado; Polly Luccado wife of Nowel Luccado, Sarah McRay wife of Alexander McRay, Rebecca Johnson and my three sons William, David and Dilmus Johnson to be equally divided among them, to them and their heirs forever and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son William Johnson and Peter Luccado my executors of this my last will and testament invoking all other former wills or testaments by me made (heretofore). At Court of Quarterly Sessions held for Fluvanna co. on Monday the 24th day of March, 1827. This will was this day produced in court and proved by the oaths of James Currin, William Appleberry and Joel G. Melton the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of William Johnson one of the executors therein named who made oath thereto as the law directs, and entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of nine thousand dollars with I.A. Stone, David Johnson, Thomas Appleberry and John D. Johnson his securities conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form, and time is allowed the other executors therein named to qualify thereto.
