Lovelady: - Joseph and Deborah [Harris] Lovelady emigrated to Greene County in 1852, where he was given 200 acres of land as a compensation for service rendered in the Florida War. Before coming to Greene County they lived in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Joseph was the son of John, born in Tennessee in 1787, and Mary also of Tennessee in 1789. The 1890 census shows Mary living with her son, John, in Greene County, Arkansas.
Three of Joseph's five children were born in Tennessee: John, Robert and Mariah, who later married William Spain. Joseph Jr., and Sevier were both born in Greene County. Jospeh Sr. died April 12, 1861. Their son Robert became a prominent physician in Greene County, and according to Goodspeed's History of Greene County, he was the second resident of Crowley's Ridge to graduate in any profession..
