    John Pickney Alley and William H. Alley Parents

    I have you as a member connection for John Pinckney Alley. I thought you might like to have this information. Also: you have his middle name spelled incorrectly. (I had his middle name as Pickney. Ckf)

    John Pinckney Alley (1840-1891) and William H Alley (1836-1895) are NOT the sons of Isaac Allee and Sarah Walden. Many hints will pop up for them that are wrong. I found it rather challenging to find John and William's parents in the records. Unless you look at the "fine details" of the records.... and without the help of my great grandfather's obituary... you would come to the conclusion that they were their children.

    What are the chances that TWO men named Isaac Alley/Allee with wives named Sarah, and both having sons named John and William were living in the same county during the same time period? The census reports are showing that it really happened.

    Isaac H. Alley (c.1800-1842), married Sarah Couch (c.1820-1842) in South Carolina. They had two sons named William and John. He received a Land patent in 1839 in Saline County. They are shown on the 1840 Pulaski County Census, with two sons and one daughter. His age is listed in the 30-39 category, hers the 20-29 category.

    Isaac Allee (1804-1860) married Sarah Walden (1810-1846) in 1824 in Alabama. He had two sons named William and John. Shown on the 1840 Saline County Census with two sons and two daughters. Both parents ages were in the 30-39 category. He married Malinda Sides (1822-1860) in 1846 in Saline County.

    So in Saline county one Isaac's life was ending as another Isaac's was beginning. It makes sense that people would confuse the two and think they were the same person.... hence all the wrong info on ancestry.com family trees.

    My great grandfather was John Pinckney Alley (1840-1891) He had one brother, William H Alley (1836-1895). Both lived and died in Saline County, Arkansas.

    They had one sister, Ester ? (1835-1842). According to John Pinckney's obituary he was orphaned at age 2 and the brothers were raised by their Aunt Mary (Couch) Pipkin, (their mother's sister).
