Benjamin was probably a minister, as was at least three of his sons. All were educated well by standards of the time.
Nathan was a minister and moved to Wythe Co, Va in 1791 and married several of the Bonham family there. Among the marriages was that of Nehemiah Bonham and Isabelle Scott and Deborah and Benjamin Peck, both couples married on the same day, 5 Jn 1796. Jeremiah bonded for her.
Smith and David left Virginia "which was becoming controlled by slaveholders and which made it difficult for a man of modest means to make a living for their growing family; so they decided to go to Ohio, which was opened up as a free State." (he Bonham Family)
