    Sherry (?) -

I just found your website and wanted to add what I have discovered about Christopher Fagenwinters. My research suggests his given name was Christoph Feigenwinter and that he was a Swiss soldier drafted into the German army and rented out to the British to fight in the American Revolution. He deserted in South Carolina and found his way to the German/Swiss community in Salisbury, NC. He had a second son born in 1792 also named Christopher, who fought in the War of 1812 under the name Christopher F. Winters, then at some point changed the spelling to Winder before migrating to the Republic of Texas in 1840. CF Winder was my third great grandfather. This has all been confirmed through several documents, including pages from a German language genealogy book sent to me by a distant Feigenwinter cousin in Switzerland, which shows Christoph Feigenwinter, born 1752, ?disappeared as a soldier?.

I have a very detailed tree on ancestry.com under the username Brian Hendrix, if you?re interested.
