Now as far as Andrew Heath the father of Isaac and husband of Hannah Smalley came to Loudoun before 1780 as he purchased 500 acres of land in 1775 from Nimrod Hott. I have the deed and have traced this 500 Acres in Loudoun up to 1825 who Thomas Buck purchased 250 acres of the 500 and Lydia Heath daughter of Andrew and Hannah purchased the other 250 acres.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Andrew Shelton Heath, I was born about 1746 in Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey (son of Andrew Heath and Magdalene (..) Heath, Mrs); died after 8 Nov 1817 in Loudoun Co, Virginia.

    Notes:

Andrew was the eldest son and inherited his father's large estate under the prevailing law of primogeniture. He gave his brother, John, a farm on the east side of his plantation and to his brother, Richard, a farm on the west side. Andrew lived on the plantation in the central portion with his mother, Magdalene, until her marriage to Uriah Bonham (Aug 30, 1780) at which time he sold his property and moved to Virginia. He bought on the tenth of March 1775, five hundred acres of land in Loudon County, Virginia lying on Elk Creek Run a branch of Bull Run. This was adjacent to the Hutchison property.
On 12 Jun 1785 he bought 50 acres, in Feb 1797 he bought 210 acres in Loudoun County and 350 acres in Prince William County; just across from Bull Run. He sold this land to his son Isaac in October 1896. Andrew's will dated 8 November 1817 is recorded in Loudoun County, Virginia. His wife, Hannah, preceded him in death.

Hi, I seen your posting on the internet from back in 2002. I am not sure how far you have gotten with your research but I figured I would let you know I have and am researching the Heath family. Andrew Heath Sr born in Pa in 1700's and died about 1817 Loudoun County Virginia. He married Hannah Smalley. He had numerous children and one was a Andrew Shelton Heath. Well I have traced this line so far from Huntington Pa to Loudoun County Virginia to Warren County Virginia and back into Pennsylvania. Currently I am working on a Andrew Shelton Heath born abt 1801 Virginia and died possibly in Warren County between 1870-1880. It appears his wife Lucinda and some of his sons moved into Pennsylvania. Andrew Shelton Heath son of said Andrew born abt 1801 Virginia was born abt 1854 Virginia probably Page County or Warren County Virginia I can not seem to find him after the 1860 Census. Now his brothers Charles H, James W, Thomas J looks like they went into Pennsylvania. I am not sure if any went into New Jersey or not as I am still working on this Heath family. It has been a long process for me. Any information you may have on this family to share with me would be much appreciated. Thanks Carolyn

If this Eliza Sarah you speak of is related to this Heath line Andrew and Hannah, then the only sons of them to of had her in 1812 would of been Andrew Shelton Heath born abt 1780 thereabout wife unknown and Isaac Heath and Sarah Rogers those are the only 2 males that are sons of Hannah Smalley and Andrew that would of been in line for that birth year. Now Andrew S Heath born abt 1780 I do not know anything about him except he died in 1841. I am not sure if he married or had any children. It appears he did not as I have the will of his father, sister Lydia Heath and sister Ruhamah Heath McKim Buck an there is no mention of any of his children or his wife if he had married at that time.

Sherry, Thank you for getting back to me on this. I have primarly research the McKim line and descendants of them. I will try to explain the best I can I am not sure if you have came across any McKims. I have never come across the Sherman name but would be glad to see what I can do to assit you in this. From what I can tell of this information that was given to me on the Smalley and Heath family is that they came from New Jersey. John Smalley died at Piscataway, New Jesey 1693/1694. He married a Ann Walden. Their children were born at Plymouth and mentions them being in Piscataway New Jersey. Some of the died in Piscataway New Jersey. It looks as if the Smalley's lived in Piscataway and Hutingdon. Now Isaac Smalley born 1714 Middlesex County, New Jersey went to Loudoun County, Virginia he married a Susannah Drake daughter of Captain Andrew Drake of Piscataway New Jersey. Now from this article it appears that the Smalleys new Andrew Heath. Now I am not sure what Andrew Heath's middle name was or if he had one. I have his Will and it is signed Andrew Heath. Now Andrew married the daughter of Isaac Smalley above her name was Hannah Smalley. They had a son Andrew Shelton Heath born about 1780 in Loudoun County Virginia. THis is the first time I see the Shelton name. I am thinking that the Andrew Heath Sr came in from Pa or also from New Jersey I have not been able to figure it out yet as this article states that Andrew lived next to the Smalleys but do not know if it was in Loudoun or New Jersey. My McKim line connects to the daughter of Andrew Heath and Hannah Smalley her name being Ruhamah Heath born abt 1775 she married a James McKim. I wished I could be of more help to you on the Shelton and Sherman as I have not came across whot he Shelton's are or even seen the Sherman name. Maybe if I had more info about your Sherman maybe I can find something I will try my best. Thanks Carolyn

  1. 4.  Andrew Heath was born about 1721 in Delaware Twp, Hunterdon Co, New Jersey (son of Andrew Heath and Mary (..) Heath); died before 21 Jun 1777.

    Notes:

Andrew was under the age of twenty-five when he inherited land in Delaware Township, from his father. During the Revolution he served as a private. Based, probably on family tradition, James P. Snell in " The History of Hunterdon & Somerset Couties" states that Andrew served in place of his drafted son, Richard, believing him too young to serve. On march with his company to headquarters Andrew was engaged in a fray with some Tories. It being a hot day he drank a quantity of water and buttermilk at a farmhouse and died suddenly a few hours later, leaving a wife, three son and four daughters. He died prior to 21 Jul 1777 when letters of administration were granted at Hopewell. Magdalene later married Uriah Bonham, who together with Daniel Howell conducted the inventory of Andrew's personal estate which was valued at 226.13 pounds. Uriah and Magdaline lived in KingwoodTownship. In his will, dated 24 May 1803, probated 4 May 1809, Uriah left his wife the whole and sole privilege for use of his dwelling house, together with his whole plantation during the time she remained a widow. In addition to the bequests to his children and grand-children, he also left money beguests to Andrew Heath and his four sisters.

Sherry, Andrew Drake's mother was a Hannah Fitz Randolph. So that shoots out her being a Shelton. Now I seen that Andrew Drake was buried at a cemetery called Stelton.Baptist Church Cemetery in Edison, New Jersey. It would not surprise me if this is where the name Shelton came in at. Maybe maybe not. Carolyn
