The Annals of Platte Co, Missouri state that on "November 11, 1826, a company of 93 emigrants arrived [in Clay County] from Bourbon County, Kentucky, led by Captain James Duncan and including Matthew Duncan his son and others." Clay is one of the Missouri counties included in what is termed the Platte Purchase.
