Less detail
Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Nathaniel Poole was born in 1668 in Cumberland, England (son of (..) Poole); died in 1748 in Poole's Hill, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; was buried on 13 Jan 1748 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Religion: 1692, Bucks Co, Pennsylvania; Quaker
    • Residence: 1692, Bucks Co, Pennsylvania
    • Religion: 1748, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Quaker
    • Residence: 1748, Poole's Hill, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

    Notes:

One ambiguous area is the parentage of Joseph Pool. There is a history of Bucks Co., PA, that says that he was born in Cumberland, England, in 1704, to Nathanial and Elizabeth (Lucas) Pool. The problem with this is that Nathaniel was living in Bucks County by 1692. Another history shows that Joseph was the son of William and Jeanette (Twentyman) Poole, also of Cumberland, and emigrated to Pennsylvania as a youth. I think it's possible (just speculating) that Nathaniel and William were brothers, and that Joseph, son of William, came to America to live with his uncle Nathaniel, perhaps after his father died. Do you have in information on this?

    Elizabeth (Lucas) Ruth,
My name is Richard Goforth. While researching the genealogy sites I came across your reply about Mary Poole. Aaron Goforth and Mary Poole were my Grt-Grt-Grt-Grt-Grt Grandparents. Enclosed is a copy of what I replied to Stan Cowan about his hunt for information on Joseph Pool s/o Nathaniel b. abt 1704. I am sending it to you for your information. Since we are distant cousins. Feel free to email me if you would like.
I actually know very little about Nathaniel Poole and his family. What I do know for fact is that his name was spelled with an "e" on the end. That he went into business with his daughter's husband's father, Aaron Goforth Sr. in Philadelphia. They had one of the very first ship building companies in the Pennsylvania colony. Mary married Aaron Jr. and they went on to have William Goforth. Who I have tremendous amount of information about. He was a Major in the American Revolutionary Army in New York. It is the older stuff, ie England that I have very little. I Also know and have documented the following: Mary was born in 1697 in Pennsylvania and died Aug. 15, 1733. I think I have more info on her but I will have to go and look in my files. I didn't know about any siblings. I knew, also documented that Nathaniel and his wife Elizabeth the following: Nathaniel born 1668 England, Died 1748 Pennsylvania, Elizabeth born 1670 place unknown, Died 1711 Pennsylvania. Elizabeth's father was Robert Lucas born 1630 Deveral, Wilts Co., England, died January 13, 1687/88 Bucks Co. Pennsylvania. Her mother was E. Cowgil born 1634 England. That is all I have about them. Like I said I know a great deal starting with William Goforth, Aaron Goforth, Jr. and Mary Poole and forward until today. But further than Aaron Sr. I know very little. And I have told you just about all I know about Nathanial and his family. I will go through my records and see if I can find any this else about her. My email is ragforth@aol.com so if you want to exchange other things let me know. Thanks.
    Richard
