William Carr was a part of Stephen F. Austin's third colony, claiming the William Carr League along Taylor's Bayou near LaBelle. He may have gotten additional land for furnishing horses to the TX. Revolutionists.

That's curious. I have Nancy as #1, married about 1822 and Charlotte as #2, married after 1823. But I don't recall who sent me this info or if any sources came with it. We need to find out because if Nancy was #2, then she was mother of all of William's known children.

The marriage of William Carr and Charlotte (?) Ender is dated 30 Oct 1851 in _Jefferson County, Texas Marriage Records, 1837-1899_ compiled and published by Mrs. Frances Terry Ingmire. Charlotte was born in Germany and apparently the second wife of Jacob Ender. One of her step-children married one of William's sons.

William's children, all listed on the 1850 Jefferson Co census, were Levi, Rachel, John, Sarah, Mary Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Matilda, Serena, Alzena.
Alzena married John Jay Burrell, son of George and Nancy Eliza French.

Built Bondreaus Place in 1857-59. Buried in Broussard Cemetery.
Sevan was the ramrod of the Broussard brothers and their ranching activity. He first settled on Hillebrant Bayou at a place as BBlanchette's Cove. In March of 1846 he registered cattle SBC, in Jefferson County records.
In February of 1850 he bought 1340 acres of land in Southwest Jefferson county along Taylor Bayou and built a home with lumber brought from Lake Charles by schooner, sailing up Taylor's Bayou from Sabine Pass.
Sevan and the Broussards prospered and by the 1860 census he owned 1200 head of cattle, 30 sheep, 70 swine, 2 horses, 10 milk cows and 2 work oxen.

Some years later, after the deaths of Sevan on December 24, 1876 and Belzire in 1884, someone began production from explorations around the salt dome near the Broussard Cemetery in August 1924. The Fannett Oil field which produced undreamed of riches for someone other than Sevan and Belzire Broussards decendents, was centered around this salt dome on Sevans land. Even today, oil and gas production, gas compression and storage functions are being performed on Sevan and Belzire's land, somehow.
